Most Durable Sealant?

I should also add that besides durability, it needs to be long lasting. Probably 5 months or better (November-March is generally the salt time in PA).

In my opinion, durability and long-lasting go hand in hand.

Zaino, Klasse and Carlack 68 (aka Jeff's Werkstatt) will all give great durability. Oddly enough, my experience has been that carnaubas protect better against bird droppings.

I think there are further products that MUST BE mentioned:

Finish Kare 2180

Finish Kare 1000P

and I agree on the Collinites, Klasse/Carlack/JW & the #21.

Never used Zaino though.

Here's what I've used.......

Zaino Z2 Pro

Klasse AIO

Blackfire

4 Star UPP

4 Star UPPS

Liquid Glass

Meg's NXT Tech

In my opinion :xyxthumbs Z2 Pro is superior to any of the above listed products...

The ultimate sealant test for longevity and durability is WATER BEADING..... it's real simple. Do half your hood in one product, and half your hood in another. The one that beads the longest wins! Then judge for yourself...

But don't use any toppers, QD's, car washes with wax in them, wax additive at the coin-op wash, etc.

I'm going to disagree-water beading has no bearing wether a product is actually bonded to the paint surface and is protecting said surface. IMO you can tell by the depth and gloss wether a product is still on the paint surface. I've used products that were no longer beading that still were bonded to the paint. When I wiped the surface with Tarminator I immediatly could tell that the depth and gloss was reduced and the sealant had been removed. And that was on a white vehicle.

That's sounds like some pretty scientific hogwash...

Instead of using a measurable attribute such as beading, you are using your super-human eyes to tell you when a product has properly bonded? :lol

I have never read any "wax test" where Zaino didnt last the longest.

I have used it for three years and am impressed by how good my cars look in the Spring. Z does last through a MI winter.

I would try some other sealent if I hear of one that lasts longer and is as easy to apply & remove.

Just because a product doesn't bead water doesn't mean it isn't there. Many resin based products protect longer than they bead water. Again if you can't tell by your eyes that a product is actually on the paint you must be using an inferior looking product. ;)

How the hell can your eye tell whether a product is there or not. ie: day 60,product still there and protecting. day 75, product gone and not protecting. I dont think youd be able to tell the difference between day 60 and day 75 with your eye. Unless its bionic.

Looking down the side of a vehicle is the best way to see the gloss and depth a product produces. Again beading is an idicator of a sealant or wax being on the surface but ASSUMING that a lack of beading means that the product is gone is ERRONEOUS. No doubt Zaino is one of the longest beading products out there and is a great product with a lot of followers. If someone wants to make a zaino convert out of me feel free to send me a small sample of Z2Pro, I'll try it with an open mind. Also some products like Mothers RTC has a warm look that is obvious to a discerning eye. BTW Duragloss also seems to be quite durable.

I will buy zaino but can i top it with natty's blue ? will it have any problems ?

You won't be able to add Zaino over Natty's but if you strip the car down in the spring to polish out the inevitable marring, scuffs and scratches winter driving seems to bring, that won't be a problem.

BTW, Natty's Blue has proved to be suprisingly durable for me.

I saw one test (the Guru Wax Report) where Zaino proved more durable than its competitors but this comparison involved applying 5 to 7 applications of various Zaino products versus 1 application of many of its competitors. Somehow this didn't seem like an apples to apples comparison to me. They claimed that they were following the manufacturers instructions yet they didn't apply a second coat of Blackfire as recommended in the instructions.

What about Japanese domestic market professional sealants (G'zox, Willson...) which use curing accelerators EXACTLY like Zaino...???

I still say FK.

In my experience--#16 or collinite over a sealant isn't any more durable than just #16 or collinite on top of, uhm, paint. :)

Interesting observation but why are so many using a sealant before a topper?

They are using rather a topper over a sealant - if you feel the subtle difference. We are using toppers because sealants are synthetic, and they often unable to provide the necessary glow, depth a good carnauba can/does.
