Minivan vs Finish Kare & OCW

330 Mini-buff (as well as all other polish/glaze products that I’ve tried in the FK line) remind me of Optimum polish in many ways.

-The pad will dictate the cut,

-Infinate working time

- Low dust

- High gloss

- Very good control via rotary. I don’t need to tape anything off –splatter is not an issue at all.

The van was covered in typical swirls that you get from the tunnel wash –about 6 months worth.

I used a 6" orange power pad with #330 and cleaned up with #303, using a 6" white polish pad via rotary. A few panels needed 2 passes to clean up the swirls. It cleans up minor scratches, & swirls very well. It doesn't have enough abrasive to tackle something that is extreme. The key is work it in well –until it becomes clear and looks like it’s going to disappear.

I would suggest trying #330 on a spot with a few pad/speed combos. If you have #425, give it a quick mist and it wipes off streak free.

Hey, great job on the van! I can't believe you got that front bumper to come back like you did! Could you elaborate on your process for that? It's difficult to tell from pics if those are bugs or more like defects in the paint from rocks, tar, etc. Did claying/bug wash take care of most of that, or was the polishing process more helpful? Great job!

Thanks! The front bumper was fun :)

I rinsed it down and sprayed Bug Squash/water mix over the entire bumper area. I let it dwell for several minutes. Then I washed it with SS&S and my mitt. This took care of 90% of the gunk caked to the bumper. I had to hit a few areas with Tarminator & a damp MF to remove the tar. Clay took care of the rest. The scratches, etc... were polished out with #330 & 303.

Since I only see their car/truck a few times a year, it gives me a chance to try out different product combo's and have a look at long term durability. I was shocked that OCW was still beading on the surface because that van went through an extreme winter & spring (They live north of Columbus Ohio)...

Heh heh, Ohio weather can be a good test of LSP durability all right! I'm guessing that you might have a chance to do it again around Thanksgiving, so we'll see how things hold up *this* winter.

Bet your parents really appreciate this :xyxthumbs
