Michelin Brake Dust Repellent with Pics

Tried this stuff and it does work at keeping the dust down although some accumulates. Worked two different front tires, one treated and the other left as is following a Z7 wash of entire vehicle...

Here are some pictures after one week of driving 30-40 minute daily for a week:

Treated with Michelin Product

Definitely working to keep a few more layers of brake dust off. I might suggest using the product to supplement a good wheel sealant.

:)

Lee, there was a recent review of the same product by another member. Did you see it? If not, look it up. There was some good info in that review as well. The other member had the same findings as you too, sounds like a pretty effective product.

WOW, your pads generate very little dust. I use this product following every wash since waxing wheels is NOT an option for me - - I use wheel cleaner every week.

Do I like this product? Yes, I just bought a few more cans last week. It's not a miracle product but it's a real benefit when you have heavy dusting and I think it makes weekly clean up a bit easier.

I have been using Klasse on my wheels. It does cause some of the dust to not stick. But the biggest advantage is that it makes the dust very easy to wash off. I am thinking about buying the Michelin stuff, tho, to try.

Where are you guys finding this stuff? I went to Autozone today and they never heard of it.

Brake dust on an Expedition is a KILLER!!

Ben,

Thanks for finding that link. That was the exact thread I was referring to.

I found mine at a local AutoZone Jason so I guess it depends on your local store's merchandise mix...

We have a bunch of Autozones here, so I'll just have to give another one a try. Thanks!

JD..I had my truck in for sevice last Feb...transmission fluid flush...and the mechanic told me my brakes were need replacement soon...he told me I had ceramics and to replace with same..he said all new trucks and SUV's come with them now...and also there was a TSB on them to use when replacing on older models brakes...I had no brake dust with the original pads..now I have akeboneo pads which I was told was the same as the OEM pads..and no dust...

I read a lot of recommendations from people using the Akebono ceramic pads. I guess they are in my future if I ever want to reduce the brake dust from my Audi wheels. They certainly would save anyone time and some $ from continuously cleaning and reapplying wheel protection. Especially those who have Audis/BMWs.

They have this plus the Michelin Tire Shine in a kit at our local Sears on sale for $7.97 right now(both products in a kit)...I may just have to get some!

Thanks for the review!

My Expedition is an 04', and since it only has 10,000 miles on it, I'm still on the original brakes. Even when I change brake pads, I always use OEM brakes from the dealer. I find that Ford brake pads always produce a lot of dust, and when you have a heavy vehicle like I do, it just makes it worse.

I've never heard of akeboneo pads before, but I will be sure to look into them when I'm ready for a new set. Thanks! :xyxthumbs

my truck is a 04 also....Akebono is suppose to be the OEM pads for my truck..at least that is what I was told...that is why I went to that brand...I never heard of them either..lol..Ford wanted 119.00 for the pads...I got them for 68.00 ...when i changed them they looked identical..even the built in shims...

i would jump on it (3in1 tire shine leaves a nice matte finish)! nice price for both, and not to mention it's getting harder to find these products around these days....
