I did a complete wash on my silver Honda today. Usually I use QEW but took out the Eagle One shampoo as it was a great day here in Texas. I never had a problem with flies using this shampoo before so I am ruling it out of the equation. I have been experimenting with various QDs lately (Menzerna HGAS, a home brew recipe, Jeffs AG, Poorboys SG, 425 and even Eagle One WS). I wanted to further experiment with QDs after my wash today so I used my home brew of 1 part Klasse SG/3 parts distilled water on one side of my Ridgeline truck and 425 on the other side (actually I should have continued my normal practice of front door/rear door panels on the same side to better see the differences).
Well, low and behold I go back outside and look at the truck and the side with 425 attracted flies by the dozens! I did not notice nearly as many on the side with the Klasse SG home brew. I stood back and watched for a while and they would fly around for a second and then just land on the 425 side. Could it be the smell? I don't think it was any extra gloss that attracted them because, quite frankly, the 425 did not look quite as wet or shine as well as the SG home brew. Can't figure it out.
