Methinks 425 attracts flies!!

I did a complete wash on my silver Honda today. Usually I use QEW but took out the Eagle One shampoo as it was a great day here in Texas. I never had a problem with flies using this shampoo before so I am ruling it out of the equation. I have been experimenting with various QDs lately (Menzerna HGAS, a home brew recipe, Jeffs AG, Poorboys SG, 425 and even Eagle One WS). I wanted to further experiment with QDs after my wash today so I used my home brew of 1 part Klasse SG/3 parts distilled water on one side of my Ridgeline truck and 425 on the other side (actually I should have continued my normal practice of front door/rear door panels on the same side to better see the differences).

Well, low and behold I go back outside and look at the truck and the side with 425 attracted flies by the dozens! I did not notice nearly as many on the side with the Klasse SG home brew. I stood back and watched for a while and they would fly around for a second and then just land on the 425 side. Could it be the smell? I don't think it was any extra gloss that attracted them because, quite frankly, the 425 did not look quite as wet or shine as well as the SG home brew. Can't figure it out.

I used Nano Wax after a few washes for people the last couple days and insects were crawling on the car. The car smelled of vanilla. One was clinging for dear life on the windshield as I was driving!

Interesting about the #425!

I dont know about flies but the claims of anti static are BS IMO. If anything I have noticed that my car gets more dust after using 425.

personally for me, i had major static on the front of my truck. after using 425 it seems to be reduced a good bit. Before the dust would stick to the truck more then a MF towel. Very agrivating when trying to clean it all off.

:think2 You must have applied the 425 backwards! :bolt

:LOLOL

If you use a Carnauba topper, 425 over the nuba DEFINITELY reduces dust. I applied S100 and went into a store came out an hour later and dust everywhere. Wiped down the surface and applied the 425 (like I should have done to begin with). an hour later ZERO dust (only on my canvas top).

The 425 does its job really well when its windy outside because the surface becomes so slick dust rolls right off. Ditto while the car is at speed.

sounds like we're seeing the downside of all these great fragrances

I'm waiting on the Yankee Candle Wash, 'Buttered Popcorn' polish and some of that pheromone QD :D

KGB, you have pretty strange results with FKs: 2180 which looks bad, 425 which attracts dust...

Don't try Collinite 476S because it will last you a day. But I recommend Megs #7, because it will go on strong for 8 months! :D

Scent does seem to attract insects. I use a generic shampoo with a tea fragrance, and if I dont wear a hat, those huge flies come buzzing by ears. Last night, it was the gnats flying around my head. I washed the car with GC shampoo and that caused a few insects to hover over the bucket and car. Early spring here in NY, so the big bugs have yet to be seen.

Heh heh, that's what somebody posted when *I* had dust-attraction issues with FK 425 :lol

I never did figure out what caused it, and it hasn't been as bad since. Only happened on the plastic rear bumper cover.

And yeah, some products *do* draw insects! Souveran does in on the XJS, especially around the areas that get hot like the hood.

:rofl :LOLOL :grinno:

Yeah, the airflow never seems to loosen the grip of those windshield-women...you have to waggle the car from side to side to get them off...

I've been using 425 on my tv and other electronics and noticed there is less dust settling. I think the tv is a good test because tv screens attract dust really easily. Maybe apply 425 to half the screen and just dry-wipe the other half and then you'll be able to easily compare.

...and 425 smells really good to me. I think if I were a fly, I'd be attracted to it too! :)

after using #425 and being gone for a week, I had yellow bug turd ALL OVER my car which was weird. I've never noticed that many turds before.
