Mercedes 300D Never Garaged Paint Restoration

What was the customers comment upon taking delivery of the finished product ? Did he mention why he waited so long for a detail or was he getting it ready for a sale ?
Process and results were spot on. Car looks like a MB again. Paul S

Wow very impressive work there jonnyboy. I would skip the AIO and go with Blackfire Wet Diamond instead. But it really looks great!!!!!!!!!!:wizard:

He FREAKED out! He said it didn't even look that good when he bought it 5 years ago.

He lived in town and did not have a garage or carport to put it under. He just bought a ranch locally with a 5 car garage. He plans on keeping this car nice now, and to buy cars to fill each bay.

These classic cars were built to last, and are quality. With a little help, this car is back to it's original beauty. It's really sad when they get treated that way. Hopefully it will stay nice...... :cursing:

Nice work Jonnyboy! 27 hours is MAJOR!:w00t:

Thank you!!

Awesome job. The products used did an amazing job, so why change.

Thanks. I thought maybe someone might have a miracle product I have not tried that might make things easier.....

Impressive resto!

Thanks!

That's a great job.

Much appreciated

Excellent turnaround! Man, that thing was a mess and you did and great job.:Dancing Dot:

Wow, thanks for all the kudos guys!

I have read about Blackfire but I have not tried it. KAIO works great because you can apply it to the entire car, paint, metal, rubber, windows, everything. Can you do that with Blackfire? If so I have to try it! Thanks for the advice. Jonathan

Allright now jonnyboy, now I think your just showin out

Those old 300d are some real work horses. Great Job Broham :wizard:

These cars will go over 400,000 miles on their engine. They were definately built to last, great cars. Thank you!

You did a great job on that car ! What year is it ? I'm surprised the hub caps were not stolen .

It is a 1974 300D. He is only the 2nd owner. He bought it from an older lady who lives in town. She bought it new in 1974.

File this under Archaeological !
It is very cool to see what appears to be decades old accumulation excavated to reveal the treasure underneath (wow, didn't mean to get carried away with the analogy, but...)
And it sounds like he might be sending more work your way.

Thank you! Hopefully he will!

Fantastic job! Loved the mold shots.

Pretty crazy huh.... That was something I have never seen.

jonnyboy, that was downright scarry:eek:

You did a remarkable job on the restoration on that MB. I do however, agree with Angelo. IMHO, there is no need for the AIO. Since you already polished the car, it just seems a little repetitive. Skip that step and go straight to your LSP. BFWD is a no brainer. It's the best sealant that I have ever seen. I wouldn't change anything else that you did or used. It's kind of hard to argue with what you have done, when you achieved such outstanding results.

Keep up the great work.

Thank you! Can you use BFWD on rubber and glass? I like AIO because you can use it on the entire car. It really brings back old rubber and also helps clean up windows, remove water spots, and helps them bead.... Maybe BFWD is better?

You can't use it on rubber, but it can be used on glass. Bill (Luster) used it on glass with great results, and I have used BF Spray Sealant. There are many other products that you could use for rubber though.
