Menzerna Pics

Here are a few shots of my Z71 Tahoe after using the Menzerna Car Care Kit.
I had to try another sealer (FMJ) and I really like it !!! (But I also like EX-P, and WG alot too).

Pads Used:

Intensive Polish (not included in the kit): Green edge 2000 pad. Tops done with the rotary, sides with the PC. I love how you can swap these pads between the rotary and PC via the quick attach adaper. Very nice!!

Final Polish II: Blude edge 2000 pad via PC

Menzerna Glaze: same as FPII.

FMJ: Black edge 2000 pad via PC.

mgm2003,

How many layers of FMJ did you apply? I used the same kit on my red Saab. I applied the glaze and then FMJ. Car looks wet. Applying the second layer of FMJ made it look wetter.

Have you found a detail spray for FMJ?

Rich

I use the Eimann Fabrik Clear Pearl Instant Detail Spray. It works very well for me when using the menzerna products.

No, I haven't done a lot with layering yet. Still experimenting with a few sealers

Klass SG
WG
EX-P
FMJ

All of them are a little different. FMJ is very easy to wipe on and wipe off, and it works VERY well with the menzerna line (even thought I've read here that menzerna doesn't produce it).

With AIO as a base, I really like the WG.

I just started using PB products, and for the $, they seem to be great value.
I'm very impressed with the SSR2.5, especially since I can use it with the PC to remove/reduce defects. I hate breaking out the rotary all of the time because you have to deal with taping the panels, splatter clean up, etc.... which is time consuming.

I've heard z-6 is good spray with it, but i've used 1z lackfinish and perls shampoo. It does return some of the slickness back to FMJ. 2 coats for me does the trick.

l33,

Did you apply a layer of glaze between the first and second layer of FMJ?

Thanks
Rich

Not in between, but before the first layer. Not sure how that would work out, but i'd imagine the glaze would affect the durabiltiy?

That's an interesting thought about using the glaze before a second coat of FMJ. Let me know what you find.

My neighbor has 5 coats of FMJ on his 04 Black TL. It gets deeper/darker with each coat. He's going to top it with liquid pinnacle this week and stick to waxing it through the winter. He's hooked on menzerna.

I did try the FMJ - glaze - FMJ layering on the hood of my car. The glaze was hard to remove. It seemed that it had reacted with the FMJ.

The same day I applied FMJ to the entire car. I could not tell a difference between the hood and the rest of the car. So I am going to stay with layering FMJ on itself unless I find something better looking.

There is a big difference in the look upon applying 2 layers. Gets deeper and wetter. Anyone using this product has to apply a second layer to really see what this product can do. It goes from great to Wammo!!!

Has anyone compared the look of FMJ with Souveran? My car looks fantastic with 3 layers of FMJ...but I am wondering if it will look wetter and deeper with Souveran.

Rich

I've tried Souvern on top of FPII vs. the glaze & FMJ, and the FMJ look is a much deeper, wetter look IMO. Kind of wish I'd tried FMJ before buying a $60 can of wax.

I would stop him - FMJ does not like toppers ;) - it gets kind of muddy with a carnuba topper -

No topper i've used makes it look any better, maybe mutes it a little. 2 coats i think is optimal for looks, after that its just added durability.

what's FMJ ?

FMJ is the sealant member of the Menzera product line which is, IMHO, spectacular. Gives great results & is extremely easy to use.

More info here: http://www.properautocare.com/menzernafmj.html

Kind of expensive by itself ($40 / 16oz) but when purchased as part of the Menzerna kit (car wash, FPII, FTG, FMJ, couple MF applicators & MF towels) for $69.95 it's a bargain especially when you buy it from premiumautocare.com and take your 10% discount.

The only hole in the line-up is the lack of a Menzerna QD product but many people have used other mfg's products with great success.

How long do you have to wait between layers, or after you buff it off can you immediately begin applying a second.

Also, how do you know how much to use.....on the pad with a PC

I can't find anything official regarding downtime between layers but the product is easier than easy to apply. I waited 24 hrs between layers.

Some people who use SG wait 24 hrs, some wait days, and some apply 2nd layer a few hours later. Go with what works for you.

I polished with IP, then FPII which leaves the surface squeaky clean. Both products have no silicones & no fillers. Remember to take off any residue with a damp MF towel, not a dry towel.

FTG goes on next, almost a WOWO product. Applied it with a PC at 3 (no need to work it) & it dries to a haze quickly. Take off the residue with a dry towel & move on to FMJ.

Applied FMJ the same way, PC at 3 & take it off with a dry MF towel when is hazes. I didn't have a finishing pad handy so I used a white LC 6.5" pad. I put two lines about 3" - 4" on the pad & applied.

2nd & 3rd layer were applied by hand. I used less FMJ & I think it was quicker than using a PC.

FMJ is a breeze to use manually. I used a MF applicator & put a nickle-size blob on the pad and it seemed to spread forever on the already very slick surface.

NOTE: do not get FMJ wet when it hazes. I had some sweat drop on the hood & it smeared the FMJ. Couldn't get rid of it without reapplying FMJ & everything was fine.

IP, FPII, and FTG clean out of the pads & applicators easily. FMJ is persistent & tougher to wash out & it'll stain whatever you use 'cause red happens to be a very strong die.
