Hi,

Had used the Menzerna IP with yellow pad for my last detail on my car. Was wondering if this would too aggressive a combo? Any thoughts?

Well you tell us. What did the paint look like before? How does it look now? Did the cutting pad mar at all? Was this by PC or rotart? If te finish needs IP and a cutting pad then so be it, but if you used a cutting pad because you ran out of other pads and the finish didn't need it then thats not good.

IP w/orange LC pad or Yellow Meg polish pad wil do it. Yellow pad it abit too agressive for IP.

For a finish that's in decent shape a polishing pad will do the trick.

I either use a white or green LC Hi-Gloss pad. This does the trick for me 90% of the time. The green pad has a little more bite, and it finishes pretty clean. .

Follow up with FPII & a finishing pad.

It's a bit hard to answer your question, because we have no idea what you're trying to correct. If your talking about a beater that hasn't been touched in years.... well then I'd give a different answer.

FWIW - I'm not a big fan of yellow cutting pads, and don't use them unless it's absolutely necessary.

Sorry for being vague.

It's my 1/2 yearly polish and protect routine. I've already done this and was curious as to what generally people do. Here's the routine with a PC:

1. Edge2K yellow with IP on horizontal panels, 1 pass working about 5-8 minutes. 1/2 the time on speed 4 and other half at 6, slight pressure. Remove with 50/50 isopropyl alcohol/water.

2. Edge 2K blue with FPII on horizontal panels after IP/yellow and on vertical panels, 1 pass working about 5-8 minutes. 1/2 the time on speed 4 and other half at 6, light pressure. Remove with 50/50 isopropyl acohol/water.

3. Edge 2K blue with Klasse AIO, 1 pass working about 5-8 minutes. Speed 6, not pressure.

4. 1 layer of Klasse SG by hand.

5. 3 layers of Collinite 885 by hand.

Surface were very smooth after both step (1) and (2).

So my question was, am I too aggressive with yellow/IP: removing too much clearcoat? I was trying to remove some light water etches.
