meguirs pads suck

Mine have been perfect and I machine wash them they dont have any problems sticking unless the velcro is full of lint and other crap.

Do you guys think that there could have been a batch that was irregular?

Also, I thought lake country actually manufactured meguiar's pads for them. Anyone know?

As I said before in another thread, I have not had one problem with the backing material on my Meguiar's Pads.

After using them, I put them in a bowl with warm water and Dawn soap and let them soak for 2-3 hours. I then lay them out to air dry.

I also use a Meguiar's backing plate and none of the pads have flown off on either the rotary or the PC.

I even tried to dry some yesterday the way some others here do it by placing the wet pad on the rotary and cranking up the speed. Luckily I held it over the bath tub as I had water flying every where!!!(wife not too impressed) But, not one pad flew off, even when they were that wet and spinning at extreme speeds on the rotary.

I guess that I have been real lucky with my velcro backing and plate.

All I can say is....:nixweiss

I think it's probably a quality control thing. Seems some people have trouble with them and some don't. I can't imagine hook and loop fasteners stymying everyone.

As a matter of fact, I have the same problem with the velco on my Timex watch, my Teva sandals and other items. Some will stick like glue, and others will keep coming off.

Hey Gary,

It is funny that you mention Timex watches, I can not keep any of them running longer than a month! Yet my wife's Timex lasted for 6 years!!!

So who knows! I did have problems a while back with the foam on the Finishing Pads but Meguiar's quickly replaced them and I have had no problems before or after that particular batch.

So, as I said...:nixweiss

Cheers!

I've read more than a few posts lately on problems with Megs 6.5" pads. I wonder if they changed something recently in their construction or materials, perhaps the outfit that is making them for Megs?

I haven't purchased a Megs pad in a long time but I do have a quite a few and not one has ever slung off the backing pad and that includes using on a rotary with a 6" H&L plate as well as on the PC with the Coastal supplied 3M 6" backing plate. I've hand washed, machine washed, rung them out by hand, spun dried them on the rotary and yes, even machine dried them (on the low heat delicate setting) and I just can't kill those pads. Most of them have had the labeling on the velcro backing faded off long ago but they still work fine.

Still, with all the complaints I've read as of late I have to think something has changed in the manufacturing process.
