!!!!! Meguiar's Lab Sample "d"!!!!!

Mike, if you were considering giving out samples for people to test and report back on - be careful. Of the 50 people AWmark sent samples of Acrylic Werks to, only two people posted their results. Kinda sad.

Hey, I was one of the people who posted a review, and I'm willing to do another one with Lab Sample D! ;) If this product is layerable and doesn't stain trim, then I'm really interested!!

I don't have a PC, but I have Autopia Handi-Grip applicators and I've been working out:D

Meguiars held a Mercedes Detailing event on Saturday and I had an opportunity to see Lab Sample 'D' in action on several paint colors and paint conditions. The product is definitely going to be a hit.

Here are my impressions after we applied it to my hood.

- The product is very creamy and it smells edible. It is white in color and you could easily mistake it for a hand lotion.

- Application is very easy, similar to applying S100. I used a Meguiars yellow foam pad slightly dampened with the product and applied the product in both circular and straight lines without difficulty.

- We waited 10 minutes before removing the wax. I used a 16" x 16" clean microfiber to remove the product. It wiped away very easily and didn't leave any white (dust) residue. I didn't test it on any porous plastic or rubber so I can not comment if it whitens these surfaces.

- Results were simply amazing. This product has the ability to fill swirls and spiderwebs like nothing I've seen. We were inspecting my hood in direct sunlight from every angle and couldn't find any swirls. It also darkens the paint slightly and allows the metallics to show through. It isn't highly reflective like Zaino nor is it glossy like S100......the best description I can give it is it makes the paint look like liquid ready to ooze of your car. It looks even better after 24 hours if you leave it alone.

Here are a couple of shots I took 20 minutes after removal:

Mike,

I sent you a PM but seems like everyone wants to try out the new stuff. Add me to the list. I will be doing some Corvettes at a museum in a couple of weeks. About 50 cars, some perfect shape, some suffering from towel induced swirling. Be happy to snap some pics and write up my experience, if you are interested in providing a sample to use.

Let me know if there is any interest.

Sam

Mike,

Sounds like there is LOTS of demand for this product. I'd be curious to see how it fares on my wife's Onyx Black Suburban! And I'd be happy to post pics/review/whatever you'd like!

Thanks,

DavidM

Mike,

Methinks there should be an Autopian Pre-release Event . . . let us have a crack at buying it before the general market. :D

Seriously, though, I'm sure you'd have quite a few folks willing to pay to be beta testers. Like me.

I agree with TAWD....

Let there be a Autopia pre-release!

Hell, I'll even cover shipping cost for myself at least!

Which one will be avalible? "D" or "E"?

If it looks this good and covers some minor swirls/webbing by hand you may have a big winner!

Regards,

Deanski

Don't forget us pros. Seems like it would be a great sealant option for our customers.

Any release date, sample information, etc would be very helpful.

Can you use this as a regular wax, is that what it's designed for? Scott mentioned a sealant option. I'm just wondering if this is something I should buy when it comes out, or keep my Carnuba Moose.

would look good on an 03 red truck I bet. One that NOW has swirls, spiders, and assorted automatic car wash damage (drat it!) from a sweet wife trying to be nice.

*sigh* zaino couldnt touch it.

My newtome '96 polo green vette needs to be perfect. My makita 9227c is coming in 14 bus. days.

I put paint in all the mini pocmarks on the hood.

I'll clean up using Meguiar's W-7006 on the rotary buffer using #83 Dual-Action Cleaner Polish and then machine polish using the W-9006 foam polishing pad with #82 Swirl Free Polish, then #83 Dual-Action Cleaner Polish with a W-8006 foam polishing pad on a Meguiar's Dual Action polisher at setting 5.5 and then ... I'd really need at least one coat of Lab Sample D ...

jcdouglass- Hey, I LOVE that Polo Green color on C5's! Be careful with the cutting pad on it though, as I recall mid-90's GM's don't have the thickest clearcoat (my Caprices/Roadmaster didn't) and the DACP/7006 combo seems plenty aggressive to me. MIKE? What do YOU think? I'm always erring on the side of caution :o

Mike - Sounds exciting... :up Any preliminary expectations on durability vis-a-vis S100, Souveran, etc?

Having never used it, but having read all the posts I can find on it, I'd guess it would be a lot more durable. Mainly because Mike mentioned it contains no wax. It is a polymer. :)

I also saw the Results of the Lab Sample on Afshins 500E

...Its The Best I have seen! I also own a Black car and keep looking for the Best Products....I Will look no further ...One coat filled the swirls and Towel Induced scratches ...

In Direct sun..the marks were GONE!!!!!! Inside under the (INSPECTION) lites...same No Marks.....Easy on easy off.

Also This Product does Not stain The Rubber as in Past Products

Mike You Forgot?

Cough....Cough To Mention ............ Meguiars is adding a New Final Detail

Just for the lab sample........

:D

Thanks again to Meguiars and Mike Phillips for the detail Clinic!

:xyxthumbs

Well jeeze, that stuff looks amazing.

I'd also be willing to try it out and write up a review. That is of course if you need any more testers!
