I thought of this idea the other day while i was food shopping.



When i paid the bill and got the reciept, i looked at the back and there were all these coupons. There was also a number to call to advertise on the back. I did not want to do that but it did give me a great idea.



I am friendly with a lot of body shop owners. So I thought i would make a flyer and print it out on 8x11 paper. I then gave it to the shop to print out there estimates on. They then give it to the customer. The customer then sees my flyer and coupon on the back.

It cost me about $50.00 to make around 3,000 flyers. In return i have 3 jobs lined up already.



Go to staples and make the the copies yourself, they do not count them. Just tell the person behind the counter you made 1,000 when you really made 3,000. You will save lots of money.



The shops dont mind because i am giving them free paper. This works like a charm. Trust me.

Sounds like a good idea. It would be best to do that with reputable shops though-a lousy body shop will leave a ton of crap that you will end up doing, like swirls, overspray, lots of dust in the interior, ect.



With good shops, you won't have that problem.

hey, it's the truth. Besides I need to be sure that Autopians are getting a good deal.



PS: i do not recommend you do this. I take no responsiblity if the lady behind the counter actually counts 3000 sheets of paper. If she does this you deserve to pay the full amount.
 
$50 for 3000. That's seems like a good price. Black and White? Normal Size paper? What Weight is the paper?



I've been doing 1/2 page flyers with just two packages listed. Get 1000 printed. Cut in half with one of those paper cutters and you get 2000 papers to hand out. I go to Kinkos to use their paper cutter. Better than paying $80 to buy one.

That is sick and wrong, Brian. Its not right to rip off any company. That isn't advice I would have expected to see posted by a respected senior Autopian. You can save money by shoplifting at Auto Zone too. Would you recommend that? :nono

Read what you wrote to begin with and then tell me that you didn't recommend that we do this. That is just dishonest and wrong. I totally can't believe you would say that....

so you mean to tell me if you went shopping and they forgot to ring something up you will go back and pay for it.

Let me ask you some questions....



Do you expect your suppliers to give you 1 gallon of material if you ordered and paid for 5? Do you expect your customers to live with a "total" detail job when in fact the wheels and trim were left out? Do you wash and quick detail a car and charge HAND WAX rates?



The fact is that you didn't mistakenly get undercharged, you deceived the store, and are proud of it. If that is how you conduct business I don't know how you keep any customers...........

Well it seems like i pissed off every mod on autopia. Now the question you need to ask yourself is: Do i really care?



I like you guys, most anyway.



I run my business very carefully. Every customer is treated with respect. My customers are all loyal to me. This has nothing to do with the way I run my detailing.



So now you can all come back at me and tell me what you think. It does not really matter. My detailing business is doing great and the customers are happy. customer service is my top priority.



I mention something about coping flyers and you make it into that i screw my customers. That is where you are wrong. Just ask around to any autopian who's car i detailed and you will see.

I cant believe that you would even compair the coping to me and my customers.

I'm sorry that your reputation and the respect of others doesn't mean anything to you. Maybe it does mean something to you. I'm just sorry that my respect didn't mean anything. If you don't have integrity then you don't have anything.
 
I don't think you pissed off all the mods. What I do know is that we are acting in part of the community to make an example to possibly get people to "see through the looking glass." before they post. While some people can care less about your post, it was brought to our attention by some autopians that take pride in what this board has accomplished and enjoy being a member of this great community. I don't think many people here condone stealing, theft, and outright lieing to cheat an establishment out of deserved compensation for a product or service, yet again brag about it or pass it on as "good will" advice publicly. Whatever you agenda of endless blabber entails regarding this thread, earning the respect of your peers, you are not.........

agreed. I used to think you were a pretty good person and a real ethical/moral businessman. However this makes me really question. How does one go from being a "fair business practitioner" in one breath to recommending someone cheat another business in the next breath??



And also just to point out- I WOULD go back into a store and pay for an item that a checker missed charging me for, I have done it before. Its the proper thing to do. I mean think about it: for every customer, a checker misses charging for one item worth $2.00, and the store has 200 customers a day. thats $2x200=$400 the store lost in one day. Consider that store is open 7 days a week and thats $2800 a week. For one year, that makes $145,600.00 the store didn't make. See how this adds up? :nono

I believe in the saying, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me Twice, shame on me."



I think it is Staple's fault that they are getting cheated. Does that mean it is right to do it and cheat them out of copies? Not at all but staples should do something so they can count the pages.



Am I upset at NYDetailer? No. Has my view of him changed at all? Not at all. I bet everyone here has stolen something from a store before.



I think some people on here have already cast the first stone...





Now, let us get back on topic. Do you think supplying the paper to a paint shop will be enough for them to advertise for you? Do you think you will have to pay anything extra to them?

This has nothing to do with my reputaion and my respect of others.

My reputation and work speak for itself. As for respect every customer of mine is treated with respect. I have integrity.

we have been cool with everything, no need for us to go back and forth with this.



It is just unfair to say my business reflects the coping of the flyers.



As for respect with mods. I do respect you, but i dont kiss ***. You guys should now that buy now.



I also find it hard to believe that you have never tried to beat the system before. We all have tried. I just found a way to do it at one place.



This is what someone told me before. It makes perfect sense.



Its like being pulled for speeding, "Sir, I clocked you at 80 in a 65, No officer I was doing 98 and I want you to right the ticket for that speed damnit cause Im Honest! Geez
 
I always say what ever you give out in life, you get back . What goes around comes around. Help enough people in life get what they want, you will always have what you want. I am not here to preach but give good common sense advice. Integrity is everything to me in business. If someone took a couple micro-fiber towels, what would you do. Be honest with yourself and always tell the truth and I promise that you will never loose.

Why is it every time Mods dont agree with something they use the same line. " It was brought to our attention" I have been on autopia long enough to know that if someone does not like what the other person said, they post about it.

just come foward and tell the truth.
