I like the idea of the bag. the price seems right i just missed the same one on ebay for $143.00..

Did you check the forum vendors to see if they carry them?
 
I think I did get mine from Coastal as well then. I just searched Makitas online retailers and that one looked familiar.

You can use anywhere from 6" to 9".... personally I use 6.5" Meguiar's pads with my rotary.

And to address the "Other letters at the end" -- they're all the same machine, just that they're sold with certain different accessories and whatnot. The ones I see on ebay usually are a 9227C CX3, which includes sanding accessories as well as the polishing stuff. No different than the differences between the PC7335, 7336SP, and 7424 -- same machine, different accessory package.
 
I purchased the same model from the same place about 2 years ago. I love the machine and its all I use on details (machine polisher wise).

I did not get the little bag, but I'd like to.

I would suggest getting a 7" Lake Country flexible backing plate as well as their black finishing, white polishing, yellow cutting, and foamed wool pads in 7.5" sizes. I found the 8.5" to be to big for tight spaces and the 6.5" to be a touch small, but that's all my personal opinion.
 
I got it from there last year. Yup, it come with a bag those 2 mop pad. I used on a winter beater, man it cut like hell. By the time you finished half of the hood. All you see is sheded wolven all over the hood and some other parts of the car.
 
I definately want to upgrade to a rotary,GregCavi suggested i try the Makita aslo. The price with the extras seems to be lower then the rest of the competitors. I'm gonna purchase the LC 7.5 pads for my PC with a 6" BP and use these same pads when i purchase the makita.Should i get the 7" BP for the rotary as well?

1 more thing,I guess i should pick up a hood etc for a test panel huh.

YES, go to your local bodyshop and ask them for a fender. I would use a fender just because it has curves and is just not a flat panel like a hood.
 
It's a good machine and light weight. I would get a trunk lid as they are smaller and you will need to be able to put it on something like saw horses to stablize it when working. Youwill also be able to pick it up easily and take it out into the sun if you are working indoors. Many trunk lids have curves and sometimes spoilers, which are good practice for bumpers too.

Good suggestion with the curves.I didnt think of this, i was thinking more in the line of a fender ETC. I'm guessing the car panel is not only for practice but also to test the limits of the machine to create/remove halograms,swirls, and burn the paint on the test panel.Thanks for all the advice..
 
Alright i decided on the makita 9227 with the tool bag and 2 crappy pads.

$161.00 shipping tax and delivery. Thanks to all who help. The Makita being lighter then the dewalt swayed me to it. I was thinking i could have had the Dewalt for nearly the same price..ahh whatta you gonna do...
 
The makita is a good unit I bought mine when they first came out about 5-6 years ago and no problems. I also have a old Black and Decker Buff Master (same as Dewalt)Its nice too...nice and heavy, its about 15 years old.
 
Thats the animal I have. I love it. I purchased the polisher along with the bag and pads and BP from PAC. I dont know if the bag is advertised on PAC, but i remember dwayne saying it wasnt becuase the backing plate and pads are sub par. I would agree with on that. I reccomend as Sean did the 7.5" LC pads and a flexible BP.

Your gonna love the 9227c.

when i 1st started my current job in 04, i was introduced to the world of buffing. my job had 2 polishers, not sure the brand names, but they arent a popular brand though. i was tough rotary buffing right off the start. never used one till that point. after alot of practice in short period of time, i started to think of buying my own buffer/polisher. our local MAC tools guy showed up with a makita in his truck...long story short, i bought it and loved it. i couldnt believe the diff of quality between what i was learned on compared to my makita. even with the off brand pads supplied at work, it made a world of diff for me, balanced better, soooo much smoother to run and easier to control i thought. i've since started using the *edge* pads and i feel after the pad change, i have increased my level of work once again. this is with using the backin plate that came with the makita. im now considering the edge 2000 series pads. i havent used many brands of rotary's, but i have always heard all good things bout the makita.

could i improve my skills better with a diff backing plate or should i consider the edge 2000 series pads over a diff backing plate??
 
"Alright" i made the desicion to order the Makita 9227 and it was delivered today and this tool looks sweet. Is their anything else i need or am i set to go

1)Should i Change the standard the BP and order another one.I will use the Edge 2000 Pads .

2)As a learning curve should i practice with the pads that come with the Makita,or use the LC 7".5" pads i own..
