Making a Black cars paint POP?

Well Carnauba wax is off limits during the winter monts but I guess I can go with it during the summer months. How about P21S? I guess I can try a Glaze with the wax after its preped real well. I don't really want to spend more then $30 bucks and would like something that lasts a little at least so is P21S the way to go, I always wanted to try it.

I see you haven't tried P21S. Nuba is never off limits with me; Its applied well in the summer, and it endures (my finish anyway) the winter. P21S is a great wax; It goes on smooth, it has a kick of a shine, and it last as long as gum on a shoe's sole.

There are definetly "winter" carnubas out there. One Grand Blitz, Collinite's whole lineup, Megs #16 will all hold up as well as most sealants, the only thing longer lasting than them is FK2180, SG or Zaino.

i don't think of black in terms of POP but rather gloss- a good carnauba can have a warm gloss that a lot of sealants lack. I think of POP in terms of mettallic flake jumping out at you.

Carnuba can last. I have a black car that turned out pretty well, and I applied 2 coats of Meg's 16 end of last October and it got me through winter (and Michigan winters last from about October to April). Wasn't much left of it by the end of April/Mid May when I got out the detailing stuff for the year, but it WAS still there. Moral of the story is, Carnubas can last.

I'd suggest switching to Vanilla Moose or Red Moose Machine Glaze topped with Blue Natty's. This combo is much less prep-demanding than most. The whole combo is under 30 bucks, and its a keeper. If you have more money to spend, Souveran looks good on black.

2nd that!

What do you guy think of #16 and S100 on top of it? I know they are both canuba wax but since #16 is almost the same as sealant. I wonder if I add S100 on top of #16 make the black car look better/wetter (sp?)?

Hear, hear! And I thought I was seeing things. A lot of people do not believe it, but honest to goodness, if its applied right, it will last the full brunt of an eastern winter. I've seen it and experienced it myself.

I wouldn't, or at least myself personally, put two different carnaubas together. Although I don't use sealants, if you wanted to combine products, then I would've used a sealant months earlier before layering the carnauba.

I don't think you could do #16 with s100 on top because I dont think the s100 would have anything to "stick" to. The 16 leaves a very slick surface, so I dont think applying s100 would do anything, as it would probably all jsut wipe off.

Once again, the mightytimmah has hit the nail right on the head! VM topped with Natty's Blue & or Souveran is simply stunning on black paint. Amazing depth & wetness.

As for making black paint "pop"............My 2005 Toyota Tacoma wears "Black Sand Pearl" paint. NOTHING............& I MEAN NOTHING has made the metallic flakes "pop" like the Z5/Z2 Pro/Z6/Z8 combo. Under the Zaino, the flakes leap from the paint as if they're standing atop the paint. If it's "pop" you're looking for....Zaino's the way to go IMO.

As for my taste........I'm a carnauba junkie. I love the look (depth, wetness, liquid shimmer) of quality carnaubas. Carnaubas tend to mute the flakes a bit & draw your eye to the actual color of the paint as opposed accenting the metallic flakes. For that look, Natty's Blue & Souveran have no equal.
