Making a Black cars paint POP?

About a month ago I did a full exterior detail of My Black car using a PC and the following products:

Blackfire Clay Bar

Menzerna Intensive Polish

Menzerna Final Polish

Blackfire Polish

Blackfire Paint Protector

I noticed two things, one I did not get rid of all the swirls & scratches I wanted to so I will be trying some 4 pads next time. Secondly while the car looked nice, I did not get the real POP I was hoping to get. I know real wax will make the car a little nicer, deeper/richer in color, but since I don’t have time to wax as much I try to stick with the sealer wax. I will give the car 1-2 details before winter time and I will probably using Klasse Sealer Glaze for the winter.

My question is what can I do differently to get the car to POP? Do I need to use a Glaze, two coats of the Blackfire Paint Protector, or top off the Blackfire (or the Klasse) with a real wax such as PS21?

THANKS.

If the finish has enough random marring, that can contribute to hindering the best reflection of the paint and therefore the "pop". How many layers of BF did you apply? Sometimes something like that might help.

I have 3 or 4 layers of Wolfgang done 24 hours apart and then I topped with Souveran. I'm sure this will work just fine with your BF and P21S. However, the car looked great beforehand because I spent an awful lot of time working with the finish first. I generally inspect it using multiple lighting sources at multiple angles in between polishing steps, before I go to my LSPs. Using those 4" pads on a PC for more stubborn blemishes sounds like a great idea. :up

As they say, it's all about the prep.

I only did only layer of BF. I judy didn't have time to do another layer the next day since you have to wait 12 hours. I did do another layer about 2-3 weeks later but I now realize that is not a good idea because even after washing it the car still has contaminates that need to be polished off first. Any other ideas? I know the 4 pads will help but I think I still need something else to get the pop I want out of a black car.

I hate black paint and probably wont buy another black car again. You have to be extra patient with the prep. Takes alot of time. I did mine this spring over 2 weeks. A couple hours at a time. this way I didnt get disgusted and rush through it.

I'd suggest switching to Vanilla Moose or Red Moose Machine Glaze topped with Blue Natty's. This combo is much less prep-demanding than most. The whole combo is under 30 bucks, and its a keeper. If you have more money to spend, Souveran looks good on black.

I would have to agree with the RMG and caranuba.

I just did my hood with RMG and Max WAx and i am having a hard time, i think it might look better than the Z2pro i had on there before hahaha.

Even my wife, who doesnt know much about this stuff, walked into the garage and said, "wow, that looks really good honey"

You WILL need an authentic pure carnauba wax. Nothing can make black snap quite as hard or sing as deeply as a well refined pure wax IMO.

Prior to polishing with the 4" pads, wash with the Valugard ABC decontamination system. That ought to eliminate anything hindering the "pop" that is not related to marring or finish blemishes. Then follow with the sealant and carnauba wax applications.

Anyone tried TOL's Black Velvet wax? Sounds like it might be a promising black car treatment, if it lives up to the marketing hype...

I first started using it when I did my spring full detail. It really has some depth and gloss to it but I've never encounter a defect/mar that it hid. But then I like to get rid of them anyway.

The application and removal part of the sales pitch is dead on. You only need to put a little on (read like you can barely see it) let it set-up and few seconds then wipe if off.

I try to get the "pop" out of my polish before applying an LSP. OCP with a white Ultrafine finishing pad for one or two passes.

My reasoning is you need to have some "Snap and Crackle" before adding the POP.
