Sorry Jeff for not answering you sooner but I actually had to measure my backing plates and pads to be sure.

I mostly use on the rotary 3" or 4 3/4" inch backing plates with 4" and 6" pads

I was surprised myself because I thought I was using 3" pads LOL
 
Thought I would update this thread.

Ive been using the side handle several times now and although I like the feel of it you cant really get any good downward pressure so Im probably going back to the original bail handle .

I may be selling the handle or open to trade ifanyone wants it.
 
Heres what Ive settled on that seems to work well for me ...

Ive kept the side handle because its very comfortable and when I need to use some pressure for correcting I just the head of the machine , it does tend to get hot though so be careful !

When I lighten up ....I use the side handle .
