Looking for a wash that keeps the slickness...

spoiledman what other cg products do you like?

im placing an order this week

looking to get a shampoo, somekind of qd and some mf towels

not sure what ones to oder

I usually use TOL, but Paul (White95Max) gave me a sample of the NXT soap so I could compare the two and my thoughts on it are this:

It has excellent cleaning ability, more so than the TOL. It is just about as slick, the suds (no matter their importance) diminished throughout the wash to the point where they were gone in the last quarter of my washing time (I used 2 oz for 2 gallons of water). I had put a coat of Paste Glaz over some more Paste Glaze 1 1/2 weeks ago, and had not washed since, and I would assume that the very nice slickness of PG would stay. However, after the NXT wash slickness of the actual wax (not the soap) was down considerably (even after QD it did not have it's great feel), and the "look" was a little less pronounced.

NXT definitely robs the slickness away from Paste Glaz. I can attest to that.

Did you wash the TL with it before I saw it yesterday?

I have been using TW Ultra gloss for the past few washes and am quite happy with it. It too is very mild, which i like. I'd rather have to go over the car twice then remove much wax. Picked up a 1.25 gallon jug for $10 CA at Costco. For the price i think it's great value !

Anyone else tried it ?

So you prefer the TOL much more than the NXT? I can't wait until I receive my gallon of TOL!

I have, and I also like it a lot. My observation was however that it in fact has some dissolving power of the dirt (granted, I have used it just 3 times and none of those times the car was really dirty) The suds last and last, and lubricity while not the best is quite good. It however also kills slickness.

I'm not overly concerned with slickness since i normally QD the car after washing or seal / wax it.

Well my TOL won't be here until Monday :(

But I just detailed my car the other day so I should be OK without a wash until then. I don't want to use NXT wash for my regular washes anymore. I think the TOL will be a winner from what I have heard!

My experience with the TOL Bubble Bath (sample from Carl/Pigeonbus) is that it does diminish the slickness, but too a lesser extent compared to NXT. I had Paste Glaz as my LSP.

Now you have me worried. I guess maybe there really isn't soap that will in no way affect the slickness. I will give the TOL an honest chance to prove itself to me. Hopefully the search will end soon enough though. I just need to get over my fascination with slick paint :doh

The after wash slickness seems to be a result of the strength of the product used and the LSP on your finish. Certain washes can leave some slickness behind, but I'm not sure how significant it is. So really, you would be better served to switch to a product where slickness lasts longer. Certain products will automatically lose slickness after washing. But I suppose different shampoos accelerate this effect at different rates.

Anyway, didn't read the entire thread, but those are my thoughts.

COBRyan - how has the TOL wash worked out for you?

I totally forgot to let everyone know!! Anyways, I LOVE the TOL wash! It has a very pleasant smell (if you like cherries) which is always a plus to me. The consistency is rather thin and watery, thinner than pancake syrup. I am used to all my washes being very thick like NXT and Gold Class. I can't say this makes a big difference though.

This soap is rather mild, but it still cleans very well with good lubricity. It does not have the super slippery feel of some washes I have used during use, but it still washes away all of the dirt without causing fine scratches. This is my new favorite "everyday" or "weekly" wash. I feel confident in knowing that it does the job without stripping away (or removing as a little as possible) my sealant or wax. The NXT wash I felt was just way too harsh for everyday use. If my car was soiled in dirt and grime, and I had planned on performing a full detail, I would probably grab a soap with a little more bite. If you don't let your car get too dirty like me, and do regular washes, this soap would be great for you. This is a mild soap, but it still cut through the bugs on my front bumper with ease.

The other thing I love about this wash is the sudsing. The suds last the WHOLE wash, and even long after! Sometimes towards the middle to the end of washing with other soaps I felt like I was just washing with water that was in the bucket. The TOL wash stay sudsy throughout the wash so you know you aren't just using water. A little also goes a long way with this wash, but I can use a little more for added cleaning power and not have to worry about my LSP getting sacrificed. I bought a gallon of this stuff and would be more than willing to give out a few samples to people who were interested in it. I have to go to Wal-Mart this weekend, so I'll try to pickup some 1 or 2 ounce bottles.

I have only tried this wash on 3 different LSP combos so far. One being my Cobra with EX-P topped with #26, a Camry with Vanilla Moose and CMW, and a Solara with Wolfgang. My Cobra has been holding the slickness very well, and I wash very often. I have had the #26 on since the beginning of June, and it has been beeding very well still, even after many washes with the TOL. The Solara is ready for a different sealant as I am not impressed with Wolfgang at all. Slickness is down to almost nothing but I attribute that to the sealant itself. The Camry is still very slick and smooth, even after the elements it is exposed to.

Hope this helps a little bit! I have tons of this stuff, so let me know if you want a sample :xyxthumbs
