Looking for a good DA Finishing Polish

Thank David those are great simple tips, I will try and consciously pay attention to them and see if I can further my techniques. The B&S Flats are my favorite pads.

On the topic of not over priming, does the HD Polish follow in the same way as the HD Uno does with using much less than others?

Phil at Detailer's Domain sells equivalents to the Buff and Shine foam pads.

ADS has just as good a deal on the B&S its the same dollar to pad ratio there's is just a six pack for 34.95

But other than that, it seems like the HD Polish finishes down and little to no micro marring left so unless it is one of these rare soft paints it would never be needed. Am I reading this correctly?

Yes. Another good thing about HD Polish is it isn't loaded with oils. What you see is what you get.

Just keep in mind the Buff & Shine pads from ADS do not have the recessed velcro of stock 5.5" Buff & Shine pads if that is what you're looking for. Another good source of B&S pads is Autoality -- I believe they have a 5 pack for $28. Also, don't forget HD pads appear to be B&S pads.

I was just a little confused as to weather to go with 106fa or PO85rd if I was to go the Mezerna route. Seems like plenty of people use the 106 on non-ceramiclear finishes, but from what I gather the 85rd is better on DA?

If I can get by with just the HD I am going to try that first and see where it gets me.

I'm a big fan of Menzerna but they contain lubricants that conceal marring like you won't believe. As a result I've stopped using their finishing polishes. Completely pointless.

HD Polish is the best finishing polish on the market. Considering anything else is stupid IMHO.

You have the best, why settle for less.

Although if I had to choose to keep one finish polish out of my supply which includes 205, 106, 85, Perfect Finish and Ultrafina, it would be HD Polish.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

I thought they DID so thank you very much for that tid bit looks like I will end up going with Detailers Domain of that site you suggest, that is one of the things that I like about the B&S pads the most, plus they just really work for me. I have also picked up some OPT microfiber pads to try. Did they get the glue issues worked out?

Thanks for the info again! I would have been upset upon delivery and kicking my own but.

I read an older thread where someone mentioned filling with the Menzerna line, but then I thought I read where they had changed up the formulation later in time to reflect those complaints.

Does have HD Polish have more bite/cut than 85rd?

Although I've never compared them side by side on the same paint, I'd say Polish CAN have significantly more cut when paired with the right pads.

I haven't done a direct comparison but my instincts tell me that Polish has more cut than 85rd. The trouble is that it's hard to gauge the results with 85rd. You never can quite tell how successful you've been in removing the concealing lubricants.

I sure would like to see some proof about 85rd being oil rich. All I keep reading is hearsay. It sure doesn't act very oil rich to me. I've never seen any sorts of changes after strong IPA wipedowns.

HD is the best but when I go to top it with Poxy it mars my finish, could it be the kaolin clay in Poxy?

How are you applying it? Poxy can't mar the finish. Is it the application method?

By hand and pc i have notice anything containing kaolin clay mars my finish, menzerna glaze as well, i am talking about micro marring.

Kaolin clay is used in many mild polishes and cleaners is it not, as a mild abrassive. Check out msds for hd polish, hd speed and poxy only poxy contains kaolin, having tried all three poxy was the only one that caused fine marring. My conclusion is kaolin clay was the culprit in my case, a 1993 red corvette.
