Look What I Got!

Black Magic Dashboard Protecant (Semi-Gloss)

cheap, over the counter, the "good" PDMS resin, water based, citrus smelling wet (no smell dried), great for dashes, and any rough or opaque interior plastic (not chrome), repels dust.

Apply a good liberal amount (not dripping) with a laquer sponge brush (or regular sponge), let dry (no buffing).

I purposefully left a spot untreated and this morning in the sun it didn't look any shinier but did look less black. So I can say on my car leaves a darker sheen than without. Very nice look.

Just think you guys needed a little reminder of the $2.99 "blue light special" for protectants :xyxthumbs

I dress my floor mats with the stuff, looks awesome!

Actually pep boys has it for $2 a bottle since they are clearing out the detailing stuff for new products they told me yesterday.

I think I have like 4 bottles now. It is not bad stuff. Gonna try it on tires in a few weeks.

I use this stuff in my beater. I concur, it's good stuff for the $, and lasts a long time. I applied it on the dash and interior about 3 months ago, and it still looks great. Excellent dust repellant too.
I had bad results on tires though.

DK my car's on full deatail, vacuum and dressing was phaze I. Next are seats, going to do a side by side with the Z stuff versus lexol. My test for leather (since my leather is the rough italian type) is to look between the corregations if they are dark and black (then I like) but if they are white and faded (like dry skin) then it doesn't pass the test. Unfortunatly Black Magic's leather stuff didn't darken as much as Lexol so I ended up giving it to my dad on his smooth light grey GM leather, for which it worked great for.

Jeff - it's the kind of brush that painters use to apply stain or laquer. It's sorta an arrow tipped black sponge on a wooden stick. It's dirt cheap at Walmar/K-mart type places and hardware stores and paint stores. It's really good at getting dust out of little spaces on your dash like air vents.

Someone posted a pic for it once but I couldn't find the thread.

Are these brushes that you are talking about the same thing as a foam brush, or is that different?

Here is what I use for applying 303 in the interior. Is this what you are talking about?

If I am going to spray and spread I would need a fine mist spray bottle, nothing worse than spraying the 303 bottle to have speckles show up all over my windsheild. I get speckles because my windsheild is at a really long slant and it's huge so the further towards the hood you go the harder it is to detail. I gotta cram my fingers down at the end while the steering wheel is in my ribs.

I bought some BM Semi-Gloss, and it is a good, cheap 303 alternative. Actually, it has even less gloss than 303, if you can believe that, and it smells kinda like rotten citrus. In my side by side comparison of 303 and BM Semi-Gloss, the 303 was better, but wow, for $2.50, BM did a very good job! Once buffed out, it is kinda hard to see the difference between BM and un-treated, but there is a slight difference, and the BM is more of a matte sheen. 303 is still better, IMO, but I will use BM on other people's cars for sure! Great price! And also, its dust attraction is similiar to 303, so very little dust.

A very good product at a great price. I cleaned out Pep Boys when it was on sale. I used it on a 1998 CLK about a month ago.

I finally decided to try Werkstat Prime. My package arrived today and I am busting to try it out. My car has two fresh applications of Powerlock so I'm out. And you would think it were easy to find a victim. Well I'm still looking.....LOL If all else fails I am getting a clear bra installed in a few weeks (first time the installer has, he's booked) and I can re-polish then I guess.

I'm anxious to compare to Klasse, which I love and have a bottle and a half of BTW. I won't have any shortage of product for a while.

I also picked up a Metro Air Force Sidekick from PAC. Tried it out tonight. It rocks!

I know nothing about this product lineup but if you'd send them to me I promise to try them out and report back! :notworthy:

Let us know how you like them....
