Living in the "big city" can be hazardous to your detailing efforts

This week I left my truck at work in the parking lot which is fenced and has around the clock security while I took a company vehicle to a job out of town. When I returned last night I found 2 bullet holes.

What a drag! I wouldn't have spent last weekend polishing and waxing if I knew this was going to happen.

OMG, so the bullets are in your truck somewhere, or maybe you'll find an exit point. that really sucks. Surely the security guys would have noticed a gun going off.

I believe the bullets are still in the truck. They did not penetrate the interior, you can't see an exit point.

One security guard mentioned that he though he heard gunfire, but in that part of town hearing gunfire is a very frequent occurence.

Looks to be a small caliber, off the top of my head it looks like a .22. If the bullets are recovered from the truck, give them to the police. If they have reports of similar problems and make an arrest, the bullets could be helpful to thier case.

Guess it's time to call the body shop. :(

Yikes! I can't believe something like that would even happen!

Good luck with the repair and have fun detailing the new paint!

I didn't think that it could happen either. When I mentioned it to a friend who has worked as an ER doc in the inner city, he told me that I would be surprised if I knew the number of people who are either hurt or killed by stray gunfire.

Glad you were not in your truck when the bullets flew.

Thanks! me too!

It probably happend at 1 or 2 a.m. The truck was only one of a handful of vehicles in a parking lot that stores 1000+ vehicles during the day.

Idiots don't realize that even misses hit SOMETHING, I second the "I'm glad you weren't in there" comment

NHBFAN, I had to look closely when I first saw your pictures. i assumed you were having some fun with Griot's fake bullet holes....I wish that were the case for your sake!

JUST FOR FUN & HARDLY DANGEROUS BULLET HOLES

Our merchandising department played a little joke on me and secretly stuck these on my car. A police officer pulled up alongside and asked if I had reported the damage. After a good laugh he asked where he could get a few for his cruiser. My daily commute puts me in bumper to bumper traffic, and the look of people’s faces in my rearview mirror is priceless. These stickers look very real, won't harm your paint, and may be removed and reapplied. They're weather resistant and wash proof. They've produced so many great laughs from folks I just had to share them with you. You get three sheets with six 1⁄4" diameter holes (2 1⁄4" splatters) per sheet. That's 18 hits. Printed in the U.S.A.

I wished that were the case too, but they are real. After two estimates those 2 little holes caused approx $700 worth of damage. Apparently, the whole bed has to be loosened and shifted to fix the holes correctly.

I will say more along the lines of a 9MM made those holes as they seem rather large for a .22 round. It may though just be the picture that makes it appear larger.

I am sorry to hear of the damage but thankfully metal and paint can be replaced but your life can't. The shooter either intended to hit your truck OR he is a real horrible shot:shocked

I am glad to see you are OK though:xyxthumbs
