Living in the "big city" can be hazardous to your detailing efforts

I will say more along the lines of a 9MM made those holes as they seem rather large for a .22 round. It may though just be the picture that makes it appear larger.

I am sorry to hear of the damage but thankfully metal and paint can be replaced but your life can't. The shooter either intended to hit your truck OR he is a real horrible shot:shocked

I am glad to see you are OK though:xyxthumbs

Anthony

Thanks, Anthony

The police officer who came out to investigate estimated it to be a 9mm.

Some people just don't respect other people's property. What a shame. There is still a blessing in it all - no one was in the vehicle.

glad you werent hurt... stray bullets, that's horrible...

how many coats of wax or sealant did you put??? If it's slick enough, the bullet may just slide off instead of going through... :P

Or maybe the car was so reflective, the guy who took a shot shot at his own reflection...

just kidding... really glad nobody was hurt

That is really awful. I am glad you were not in the vehicle. Around Columbus, Ohio we are having problems with some idiot shooting at cars on the south side (primarily I-270). One person has already died as a result of it. Just this past week two more cars have been shot.

NHBFan- Yikes! Hope the repairs go well. I too think you oughta try to recover the slugs (if only because I'm curious about what caliber they really are :o ). Having them for a ballistics match could be handy if they ever catch somebody. And if not, they'd be cool to have around ("therein lies a tale...").

I wished that were the case too, but they are real. After two estimates those 2 little holes caused approx $700 worth of damage. Apparently, the whole bed has to be loosened and shifted to fix the holes correctly.

I think a little AIO, cutting pad, and pc set to 5 should get that right out:rofl

Thank God you're ok.

Wow, if it were me I'd just shoot some clear over them so the metal doesn't rust. It'd be a fun story to have. I understand wanting it repaired, though.

One thing to think about: does it appear that the bullets came from the same direction? To me it looks like they were [just taking a shot in the dark ;)] 20 degrees apart. That would lead me to believe the shooter was realitively close. Also interesting to look into would be the distance at which a bullet can penetrate [Ford's?] body sheetmetal.

I guess it's only intersting because I suspect it'll never happen around here. I can see how it'd be rather startling, though.

It sure is too bad people are so dumb.

The bullets certainly look like they entered from two different trajectories. The investigating officer believed the they came from a handgun (9mm) from a good distance, so ... the bullets were probably tumbling ... that's why they look as though they came from two different angles. They didn't impact flat.

BTW, it's a 2003 Dodge ... but no Hemi:(

dgraupman,

The ironic thing is I parked on an end spot up on a curb to avoid door dings, but that left me vunerable to the stray bullets ... no cars on one side to block them.
