Little Paint Correction On Wifes Truck

You are off to a great start. Just wait till you try out the new stuff! :D

I can't wait to try something a little more challenging. A lot of this one was me working on technique. I had never used a PC before always a rotary. At first I wasn't using enough compound and not working it until it broke down. Once I started doing that, and got used to the machine it really started to work out the scratches and the really really bad hard water stains. Their are still some scratches left in the paint, but I will get them next time. I am (depending on weather) going to give it a wack with the old mans ranger this weekend. It has been probably 5 years since the truck was buffed, and probably a year or so since it was even waxed. Should be a pretty dramatic change. I am going to take 2 days on it and try to get lots of pics and document it. Just haven't received my backing plates yet. So I have pads and no way to attach them to the PC. Had to use the one freebie pad I got with the PC for this one.

You will notice a BIG difference using the other pads that you got. The pad that comes with the PC is not very good. Just curious, you mentioned that you used the rotary before. Why go back to the PC? I prefer my rotary over a PC, any day! Even with the KB method! My PC has been relegated to carpet brush duty and applying sealants/wax. You can achieve good results with a PC, I just think the rotary is a lot more efficient, if you know how to use it.

I never used the pad that came with the PC, but I have to *think/believe* that you will get even better (and likely quicker) results with the new pads (though I didn't see where you mentioned which pads you got).

Your results are a testament to the capabilities of SwirlX, which I have not seen or used (I honestly thought ScratchX when I first *read* the post.)

What Mother's sealant did you use?

What did you use on the trim pieces? They look very nice at this end.

I had a rotary at work. Haven't had that job in about 15 years. Bought the PC for personal use.

I got a whole bunch of Lake Country - just waiting on the backing plate to show up.

I used their sealant from their 3 stage stuff I had sitting on a shelf.

For the Trim I used a Matte Finish - I can't remember the Brand I will have to look it up when I get home.

:cool: I AGREE:cool::dcrules

For the Trim I used Black Magic titanium Matte Tire Finish.

For sealer is used Mothers California Gold Seal & Glaze.

Nice.

Just as a side note, it never helps when I detail my wifes car.

My ex never even noticed when her car got detailed. Never noticed the muddy puddles she could have missed on an otherwise clear and dry street either. Just one of the many reasons she's "ex". A pricey solution but a worthwhile investment... kind of like a happiness tax :yay

I still give my Wife a hard time about that one. :D It will never fail it will rain or someone will run the sprinklers all over the street right after her weekly clean-up. Though she does notice, sometimes participates (my little interior glxxx chick ) and just about always helps with a final walk-around.

And that's just one of the reasons why I'm lucky enough to have her for my Wife for 3+ decades. :bow:bigups

What is the KB method?

The Kevin Brown method. It is just a different approach to using the PC that allows it to do a lot more correction that it would normally. A lot of it has to do with the SMAT abrasives in the M105. He is doing a very detailed write up. When he completes it, I'm sure it will be posted everywhere.
