Leatherette by BMW - Cleaning

One of my detailers was unable to remove a stain originating from Ketchup on a customer's 2006 BMW Z4 "Leatherette" seats. Leatherette is a synthetic leather that BMW makes.

The customer seemed totally convinced that we didn't know what we were doing and that there is some product that we should be using that will wipe it right out. I called BMW and they recommended pretty standard cleaners like Armorall.

I'm going back out there tomorrow to see if I can figure something out. Is this customer right, is there something special that I should know about, or did he leave ketchup on his seat on a hot day or something and have the acid eat into the material?

Thanks so much!

there are a lot of suficiant leather cleaners, combo them with a leather brush or magic eraser and that sould do the trick. thanks to scottwax, i think most of us use a woolite mixture.

Yea on my leatherette I just use the Woolite 6:1 and a brush. Works perfectly fine cleans it makes it look new. After I wipe dry I just use the 303 Protectant.

I was not able to get pictures of the seat (camera actually broke that day) but I can say that the Woolite did work nicely where all other products I tried failed. I tried a light degreaser, alchohol, and a solvent based car-safe tar remover.

I have no idea why the Woolite worked so well, but it did and now I keep it in stock as the standard interior cleaner for my detailers.

Thanks so much for everyone's help!
