Leather Master Soft Cleaner

But good to hear about TOL and the poor service.

Yeah, the problem is not with TOL, their service is 1st class and they "get it" when it comes to the internet world of instant gratification. ;)

The people that don't get it are the USA distributors for the LM product line.

I hear you. Before your post above I called them (MultiMasters) to check on the status of my order, which I placed 3 days ago. I was told it would not even ship for about 7-10 days, so I said forget it and I canceled my order. I am sticking with Aaron's, Phil's, and Judy's advise and I will dilute the strong cleaner, which I ordered from Phil.

Crap, I wish I had seen that. I would have purchased elsewhere, too.

I'm not on any time line or schedule...I know some of you guys are and that's the reason for me posting this.

The girl did tell me several times that their time standard is 7 - 10 days...same as you were quoted, Doc. However, lots of people tell me this when I buy stuff 'cause they think it makes them look like heroes when it shows up 3 days later  Believe me, it doesn't. I consider shipment within 24hrs of payment mandatory unless an expectation is set otherwise, and then I can choose to place my order elsewhere.

I kept saying to myself, "worst case, it's 3 days from NC to MA. It will definitely be here for me to play with during the rainy weekend with a couple of days to spare, easily!"

Well, the UPS man left a bunch of crap this afternoon and nothing from NC. :hairpull I called them to ask where it was and was informed of the truth: "We charge your credit card 7 days prior to shipping". (They didn't really say that, but that's what occurred.) I don't elect to do business like this. It's bordering on unethical.

I'm gonna offer 3 more :down :down :down :D (I hope somebody from their organization sees this thread.)

Hey Grouse, gonna be in Greensboro NC in June - you're only an hour and a half away from me. If you have the time, I like to meet and have a beer with you and talk about detailing.

Or maybe when you were told 7-10 days it meant 7-10 days.

They told me 7-10 days just to package and ship the darn thing, plus an additional 6-7 days after the packaging for it to be at my door, so a total of about 2 weeks. That is just absurd. I had already ordered the strong cleaner from Phil, so I'll just dilute that. I might still get the Soft Cleaner, but from TOL though.

Yeah, I guess I should have taken the statement at face value and questioned it. It's gonna end up being closer to 14 days when the stuff finally arrives. I don't know of any other company dragging the process out like this :grrr This will set a record for delinquent delivery.

What a racket, never have to put out money for inventory. Just order whatever their customers order, and make everyone wait til they get the stuff in

Guys, if MultiMaster isn't the USA distributor, who is?

Leather Master gains Exclusive Partnership

HIGH POINT, N.C., May 23, 2004 Multimaster North America Inc., a marketer of leather, fabric and wood care products, is now the exclusive distributor of Leather Master products, the leader for excellence in the cleaning and maintenance of leather furniture. Although the company already distributes Leather Master through other channels, this marks Multimaster’s entry into the home furnishings retail market.

“Multimaster is committed to servicing the home furnishings industry, President Tony Milano says. “Our expanded distribution will allow us to support furniture retailers, and indeed the industry, in a more comprehensive manner. Milano says Multimaster plans to support furniture retailers, in addition to the manufacturers they already serve, with a complete line of care, protection and repair products to service their customers.

Leather Master is the premier brand of leather protection and care products to the furniture and fashion industry, developed and manufactured in Italy by Uniters S.p.A. The line includes products developed for the cleaning of aniline, nubuck and protected leathers, as well as leather repair and professional-grade products.

“Multimaster’s commitment to service makes it the best partner for our American distribution, says Gordian Tork, Uniters’ president. “The executive team has significant experience in the industry and an outstanding reputation. We look forward to our expanded relationship.

In addition to Leather Master, Multimaster also distributes Textile Master, Wood Master, Boat Master and Repair Master product lines – all developed by Dr. Tork – throughout the Americas. Multimaster is the sole North and South American distributor of Uniters products.

A lot of small time internet players are doing this. I'm not so sure it's the case with MultiMaster.

Tom P - Nice to see that the LM kit finally arrived.

I purchased a LM kit from eBay recently. I have the Leather Master Soft Cleaner that came in a 6 oz. foaming bottle along with the 8 oz. Leather Master Protection Cream. My kit also came with an "ink lifter" stick and a small blue sponge and white cloth. I don't have the Leather Master Vital or the Universal Cleaner. This is not the automotive care kit from LM.

I know this post is going to get a "This is thread is worthless without pics" and I'll apologize in advance. In any event, I used the Leather Master Soft Cleaner on a 2006 Honda Odyssey and on an 08 VW GTI.

The Odyssey steering wheel was starting to get a hint of the shininess and slickness that you don't want on your steering wheel. I applied the Soft Cleaner as directed, using a supplied sponge that came with the kit. It directs you to apply the cleaner with the sponge using circular movements and to avoid scrubbing. A little goes a long way with the foaming bottle. I must have used 3 - 4 half pumps of the foaming bottle for the steering wheel. Wipe dry with a clean white cloth and allow to dry for at least 30 minutes. Now I didn't get any "dirt" per se on the white cloth or anything on the sponge. My initial observation after 60 minutes is that the shininess of the steering wheel went down considerably but it still felt just a little slick.

After one hour, I applied the Protection Cream. It is not a "cream" per se as much as it is a runny viscous liquid. Again, a little goes a long way. I applied the Protection Cream using the supplied white cloth again using circular motions. Allow to dry completely. I didn't do the seats just yet because the Odyssey needs a more thorough interior detail than I was able to give it right now.

The Odyssey Steering wheel took on more of a matte finish and definitely gained a bit of a tackier feeling after I applied the protection cream. The protection cream doesn't leave any type of residue or greasy feeling. You'd be hard pressed to tell that there was even anything applied. I also applied it to the driver's seat

I also used it on a brand new 08 VW GTI steering wheel and seats. The VW steering wheel has a matte finish and definitely a more unique finish than your traditional leather steering wheel. Very little soil on this wheel but cleaned with soft cleaner and applied protection cream as directed. Again, you wouldn't even be able to tell that anything had been applied to the surface. The steering wheel feels the looks exactly the same prior to application, same with the seats as well. The protection cream bottle recommends application 2 - 4 times per year.

Overall, I like the ease of application using the foaming bottle and sponge of the Soft Cleaner. And it definitely seemed like it gave the wheel a nice thorough cleaning. Also, I like the Protection Cream because it doesn't leave any type of residues or funny slick feeling on the steering wheel. I'm assuming since these are water based products that evaporation plays a role in the product not sitting on the surface of the leather therefore no residues or left over product on the leather surface. Again, you'd be hard pressed to tell that any product was even applied to these surfaces which is just the way I like it - au natural!

Again, I know I'll get the "This Thread is Worthless Without Pics" but I know TomP. will post before and after pics with his kit. I'll try and get my hands on another dirty steering wheel and seats and remember to take before and after pictures.

Just my $.02

Thanks for sharing that. I did some weary shoes this morning since I don't know I'm going to have time to attack the cars in the immediate future.

I did a little of the Soft Cleaner per the directions. Easy enough to use. It did clean the dirty shoes well, no color transfer was obvious. The surface of the leather is far more even now, less spotty. Some of the traditional heel wear marks have been hidden. I followed up with the Soft Conditioner. The shoes look much better but the leather appears very dry with a matte appearance as you mention. The leather feels very smooth and uniform to the touch. It looks "dry", almost too much so.

FWIW, if you like that big leather smell, these products may not meet expectations.
