Whats some of your guys opinions on layering wax?



Right now this is what I have done. (multiple times)



Clay

3M Finesse IT

AIO klasse

3 coats SG Klasse

Pinacle wax



Car looks great I guess, but a point is reached where you just want to make you paint look even better....You dont know why, but you cant help but feel that It could be made even better!



Please share your thoughts on layering wax and if it actually helps...These pictures are of 1 coat of wax about 3 weeks ago. But I just put on another coat last night. Keep in mind car is only driven to autox and soon to be track events. (weekend car)

You stated "Pinnacle Wax" is this the Pinnacle Souveran Paste WAX?? If so, I thought it would have more gloss than that (could be the camera / lighting tho)...If not try topping with some Pinnacle Souveran paste wax....



Perhaps more of a gloss dressing for the tires? (although maybe your taste is a matte look)...



Other that that....What else can you do?? It looks really good....



The only other suggestion I have is to search around and try different products and see if that makes you any happier :o
 
MCNAB: Yes Pinnacle Paste Wax. Im guess Im just wondering what are your guys thoughts on layering wax as well? Will this help? Ya just 20 minutes earlier the son was out and it was much more shiny. But these were taken is some cloud cover which was very annoying to me.



I used dressing such as meguires and eagle 1, but ive noticed all it does is sprays over my rear bumper...Even when applied with a foam pad. Doesnt matter how much I put on it still sprays.



Plus, in my opinion as long as the tires look "fresh" or "oily" its fine by me.

You say Pinnacle Paste Wax....You still have yet to clarify if this is Souveran or Signature Series...big difference there IMO....



Also, if you use tire gel, w/ or w/o foam pad, you still need to let them air dry in the sun for at least 5-10min b4 u can expect them not to sling or run...



I say use some Crystal Mist or OCW spray after your carnauba...

And I always do let it sit for more than 5-10 minutes. After I finsih buffing the car I do my interior detail which takes about 35 minutes and then drive the car in the garage and STILL run into this problem.



Like I said its not somthing Im particularly worried about.





Btw, I check out the #425 and it looks really cool. A product I will try out some time soon for sure :bolt

:shocked :shocked 35min and the tires are still wet enough to sling?!?!?!?! How much gel you using man?!?!?! :nervous2:
 
well first off I dont use Gel, I used Meguires can spray tire shine. Second, I spray on a towel or foam and then wipe down the tire.



I have no clue though, BUT like I said...I really could care less about my tires , they get pretty beat up at autox anyways :)

I have to second what NT2SHBY said, easy up on the tire dressing a bit. you may be having some of your dressing stuck in the groves and outter tread of the tire, may not be easily visable to the naked eye but once those tires start spinning....well, SLING happens as they say.



I use Meguiar's tire gel (purple stuff ) applied with a foam applicator and i get very little sling with that product. At time I have layed it on thick (just because I like the very wet look on my tires) and I do get some sling. I do get a lot of sling when I use Megs hyper dressing applied with a spray bottle...of course hyper dressing is a more liquid product and does fly everywhere when using a spray bottle.



Try this, carry some QD and a terry towel (or MF) in your trunk. when you first take the car out for a spin after your detail then, wherever you stop, just give it a spray and wipe to get rid of the sling. Works for me.
 
Ive heard of this spit shine, seems to have brought some finishes back to life.

I firmly agree with the F1K 425 for that added bit of "oomph". Other than that the only thing that's missing is me behind the wheel. :grinno:

Ya I gotta a little squirly and ALMOST cleared it! Ahhh would of been so nice, but the wheel made contact and that picture is about 1 second after contact was made :drool:



Anywho, yes sir. PC for 3M...Im pretty sure I wouldnt be able to get anything out by hand :woot:
 
finally someone else driving their car as fast as it looks. and boys (and girls?), they all look fast after some 425...so let's start drivin'!!
 
Keep on going. Remember, the thing to keep in consideration when layering is Control. You do not want to go too heavy at one time. Layer (deposit for naysayers) s_l_o_w_l_y. Take your time and put on one coat per session. If you do this (I think you know this already), then you should have a slick as silk finish. How much wax you feel you will need may depend somewhat on the lsp that you use. Some waxes pack a heavy punch early, so it may not require a lot of putting on to get a slick surface. Other waxes need a lot of encouragement to get a performance from.



It is also important to keep the surface as clean as possible, and use a detail spray between thirds or every other coating, so as to keep the layerings thin, and also to keep out pre-mature hazing or oxidation.



Also remember....no matter how much you pile on............all of that good stuff eventually has to come off!!! So do it in moderation! Happy Waxing!



PS: Redundant maybe, but once the wax is on, do not put glazes, "all in one(s)" or a cleaner wax on top of your waxed finish. If you do, then as the naysayers will put it, you will not be layering. You'll be in a perpetual cleaning mode! Lol!!
 
IMHO, I'd drop the Klasse SG. Yea its amazing protection, but the look isnt my cup of tea. I'd still use AIO though and then go to the wax.... just my preference



edit: also, using a glaze could really deepen the paint. CG offers a couple VERY easy to use glazes. i use the revive glaze and have gotten wonderful results. in my experience, they buff off much better than menzerna machine glaze.
