Lance Rocks!.....Today's stage certainly was intense....I also took many casualties...Tyler Hamilton Gone again(sad), and what has happened to J. Ullrich? Lance will dominate.....I believe we will see Ullrich later, however, he may be to far back......
Huge Props to Thomas Voeckler, Guts Determination, Pure PASSION exhibitied by this young man. The mountains are not his strength, however he reached deep down, battled the buring of his lungs , the tightening of his chest the pounding of his heart and the stffening of his legs to finish and retain the "maillot jeune" for today anyway.
My main fear is what kept the GREATEST of ALL TIME Eddy Merckx from being the first 6 time winner, a Crowd Accident.....These fans are way to close....I thought the flag guy today was going to bury Lance.
Some nin-com-poop came out and hit Eddy so hard was forced to go on blood thinners which weakened the "Cannibal" and he didn't have the strength to win...wound up in second.....
Here is link to the great cyclists who have attempted this great feat and have fallen short

Note: Eddy Merckx raced in almost every tour available every year! Consider the 100 Yellow Tour jersey's Eddy has compared to Lance's 77(?) for about the same amount of time racing in the Tour. However, that only destinguishes a different style of racing not necessarily Greatness. These are different races, I believe communication improvememnts has made the Tour a more tachtical race. What a pleasure to enjoy these great Champions! Lance competes in specific races per year. Eddy did 'em all! and still holds the world record he set in Mexico City in 1972 for 10km (11 minutes 53.2 seconds), 20km (24 minutes 6.8 seconds) and the 1 hour record (49.431957 km). This has not been broken yet!
The 6th time has been elusive from the greatest cyclists....Maybe History is their conquerer?
The tour made one of the greatest impressions in my life when I had the opportunity to visit France in 1972 and witness the great Eddy Merckx, Luis Ocana, Ramond Poulidor, Joop Zoetemelk, Cyrille Guimard , Lucien van Impe..(OK I'll stop now..it still seems like yesterday) I was so freakin' hooked!!!!! Merckx just went out and won or tried to destory everyone on every stage!!!!! His strategy was simply "catch me if you can...."
I have 8mm footage of yours truly as a young pre-teen standing on the sidelines cheering on the "maillot jeune", Eddy Merckx as he was just a BLAZE of streaking yellow at the Bordeaux time trial I attended. I remember seeing Luis Ocana(Spain, one of Merckx's arch rivals within a few of me warming up, and the great Raymond Poulidor....I still have the magazines of those years and the racing hats that I purchased in France.
Six times is so very hard. I cannot see Lance not winning however HISTORY says he will have to defy the evils which lie ahead. I wish him the best of good Fortune and make this 101st running of the Tour the most Memorable as he completes this feat.....ALLEZ LANCE! (I am not French but during the Tour I will scream out vaious phrases which the gallery just screams out along the stage as the riders literally flash by!.....Allez Merckx!!! Allez!! Allez!!!.........) For those not familiar with Cycling, imagine 200 crickets on the most silent of nights chirping louder than you have ever heard! This is what the Peloton sounds like as they are Blazing past you! Very Intense!
US POSTAL is just looking indestructable! OMG! I apologize for the length of this post and the trip down memory lane, but my PASSION for the Tour de France is overwhelming! I love the commercial where the guy is riding at his house with the annoucer calling the stage and then cuts to his wife that just gives him that look and he is on his trainer! Tremendous! LOL!!!!!!
Lance - 6th Tour - priceless!
