Lake Country Pads Gone Bad

I told you they would hook you up :)

They are giving you the 7.5 ones because the 6.5 ones wont be in for a month...

You should try their light cut too. Does a great job, and the 32oz bottle is cheaper than most 16oz bottles.

Does anyone know why the pads are cupped? My orange pad came cupped like that. It seemed to loosen up a little bit as I used it, but the center still wouldn't touch the paint. Are they designed for a rotary, or what. I used a PC.

That's what LC calls their VC style pad and the concave center is what they refer to as a polish pocket. It is designed to reduce splatter and product building up in the center of the pad. The pad isn't designed to make full contact with your paint, but seems to work fine. Many PC and rotary users like that style. I think the splatter is more of a problem with a rotary, but those 6.5" pads are made for a PC.

Ya they said i could only get the white pad in 6.5 and since i had been looking at the 7.5 i couild not pass it up.. i looked closer at my black pad and realized the same thing is happening to that.. but it will last for another month or so.

I own the Light Cut, and there MEd cut. And also got the bahama mama carnuba (not impressed) I also have there wash shampoo, APC (great), window clean (decent) and trade secret.

I recieved my 7.5 pads today. Overall i would say they are much better constructed than the 6.5 ones. It is really amazing how well they are made, i will test the performance of them sometime soon.

Why dont they make the 6.5 ones like these? Im not talking about being VC, just way better construction.

thanks guys just got my pc ordered my pads from Classic Motoring Accessories

will check out tol next time

6.5 inch pads with a 6" backing plate. That is what TOL.com suggested.

Greg

greg I have the same problem. I have only used my orange one 3 times and it looks almost like yours! I have used the white one 5 times and you can see it cupping. WHat did TOTL do for you.

Call them, send the pads back, and they will give you a replacement.

TOL should really sell the 5" backing plate, and recomend it with the LC pads.

BTW i used my 7.5 pads today. The orange anyways. I was nice, different than the flat one. I liked how you can goto the edge of a panel and the pad wont hit trim, unless the trim is raised up higher than the panel anyways....

I expressed my concern about this to TOL when I bought some LC pad's, they said it would not be a problem and that's just the way it is , never offered to do anything about it or anything. I said why did'nt it state that in the desc. b/c I would'nt have bought them. Again was told that's just the way it is.

I have not used them yet but expect the same thing to happen to mine .

Wow

that is really odd to hear that they would not work with you.. After i sent in the pics of mine they were very cooperative and fact i was very happy at how they handled this. Are you going to use a 6" backing plate? that backing plate plus the 6.5" pads is what causes the problem. If your pads break you can be sure that they will send you new ones.. free.

I dont think you will have any trouble with that backing plate. As long as the backing plate is not bigger than the velcro it will be fine.

Sorry, guy's but it's not a defect it will continue to happen as long as you continue to use you pc or dewalt on an angel. The outside edge of the backing plate cuts into the out side edge of the pad. To see what I mean place the pad on a flat surface (Not Running) and slowly put the pc or dewalt on an angel, you'll see the outside edge of the backing plate sink into the edge of the pad. Just a poor design, if the velcro was made to fit to the outside edge the problem would go away or atleast be much better. Also try to get in the habit or starting the machine on the surface and turning it off while it's on the surface, this will increase the life of the velcro.keep the pad as flat as you can whenever you can. You will see a difference.
