Just Ordered Quick Shine! - Will Compare to Meg's FD...

Guys,

I can obtain FD by the gallon or 5 gallon from my local Megs dealer. All I do is call him and it gets there within next day.

Another Megs dealer in Mass is Car Products, but I do not think they developed a website as they deal mostly with professionals.

Anyone need a gallon, let me know and I'll order it and have it shipped.

Always willing to help out :xyxthumbs

Regards,

Deanski

I'm down with a group buy of FD. I have Quickshine and love it on top of P21s. It's my only QD I use, but after reading about FD, I'll be willing go in on some with a group.

Yes, Deanski, use distilled water. You can never be too anal!

OK then two votes for DW to add the the QS gallon. I was going that route as I too was thinking along that line.

Yep, FD seems to be pretty good stuff. I tried several QD's so far over the Souveran Paste and FD seems the best yet. Mothers wasn't bad as well. If you have FI near by and get the FD, they smell a little different. I also had to lable the spray bottle as I keep both close by (FI/FD).

So far, my dealer get FD in anytime I want cost is 15.50 a gallon.

Gallon of DACP: 22.99 Gallon of SFP: 22.99, Gallon of APC+: 11.25 and 32oz of HP: 12.99

Go get some!

Regards,

Deanski

I've been reading about FD too much... I usually use S&W but i've been searching for something else that would give me that added "pop". I'm definately down for a group buy!

Well, FD cost per gallon is 15.50, so then factor in shipping.

I'm surprised some of the online sites cannot or have problems shipping this product.

I'll have to see.

Regards,

Deanski

For those interested, I'll contact my Megs rep. I'm sure the price will be adjusted, the $15.50 is what I am charged for it now.

Just need to know how many people are interested and how much you want. Remember these are gallon containers.

Shoot me a PM or email and I'll start something going!

You also may want to check the online prices and shipping costs from the sites you can get it from to see if it's worth it for you.

Always willing to help my fellow Autopia members!

Regards,

Deanski

You should be able to order FD from any Meguiar's dealer. They just contact their Meg's ditributor and it is delivered to the store for you to pick up. My local Jocko's gets it in a day or two after I order it. No shipping charges although the pricing will vary by store. I think I paid just under $16 for a gallon, the last time I purchased it.

It is pretty hard to beat for the price.

Ditto

While I appreciate that Deanski is willing to go above and beyond the call of duty, Final Detail should be readily available in the U.S.

Anyone that wants a gallon of (D-5101) Final Detail can simply go to any PBE Store, (That stands for Paint, Body & Equipment, the auto parts stores in your home town that also sell paint to the local bodyshops), and if they don't have it on the shelf, simply ask them to order it for you.

Chances are good it can be there the next day.

(Most PBE stores are Meguiar's dealers, i.e. they sell Meguiar's)

Outside of the U.S., then it may be harder to purchase.

I think were working on that ;)

Hmmm....Back in July my local guy denied FD even exists. I know he's wrong. I have to order online :(

I checked locally here with Lordco who handle Meguiars and their catalog didn't even list it .. so I assume its not available here yet in CanaDUH.

Tim, (aka 2hotford), has let me know that getting Meguiar's Professional line as well as Detailer line is difficult in Canada.

I have a phone call in today to our Canadian partner/distributor to see what can be done about this.

Sorry for the inconvenience, let me see what I can do.

For all you Greater Boston Autopians, you can get Megiuar's FD (gal) at

Rainbow Suppies Inc. 130 Allen Street Braintree. 1-800-464-1150 or 781-848-1116

I picked some up last week when I was in Boston. I called them in AM and they had me a gallon of FD from their warehouse (supplier) @ 1pm the same day. Outstanding service :xyxthumbs. Price: $17.20

So which is better? QS or FD? That is the question.

I have tried QS and it has to be my favorite QD, however, I haven't yet tried the FD. But with all the raves about FD I have the itch but I am holding back to pick on it until somebody can convince me. :)

With Aloha,

Ranney :D

Ranney, not only is FD half the price of QS the shine is in my opinion a LOT better. I use a QD mainly for gloss and appearance, in both of these catagories FD wins hands down. If your looking for a surface cleaner and the silky smooth feel against your skin then stick with QS. It even smells nice...... It not bad of you get it on your windows either. I think it even removes warts and can be used to prevent bear attatcks as I havent seen a bear since I got my gallon.

Of course I would love to sned you a sample, maybe we could trade for a WW.....

Mike, thanks for taking up the gauntlet on this. It is greatly appreciated.

Mike,

Thanks for trying to assit the members up in Canada!

Seems it is a struggle to obtain not only the Pro line, but the Detailer line is more elusive.

Keep them and us updated. As always, willing to assist fellow members. Again, I would be obtaining it at my cost and have access to shipping via UPS.

I agree that there has to be more was of obtaining it from dealers or other retail chains willing to "special Order" it for a customer.

Whatever is in FD, it works very well and as others state, it does a fantastic job bringing up the level of gloss.

Now if we can only get Engine Kote from spattering when applying by high volume spray. Just leaves small white globs which have to be wiped off or spread with say a foam paint brush. I have found it works VERY well in wheel wells and undercarriage areas. Dealership wants to know if I flip the car over to detail the underside :P

Keep us informed!

Deanski

So far I really like FD. My only knock is slickness. It has a little grab to it as I buff. I want my towel or MF to feel like it's an air hockey puck. With my Zymol HD, S100, and FD the metallic specs are jumping out at me. Looks like the milky way.

I usually do two passes after a wash. Maybe I'll use the QS for pass one to get the car real slippery then pass two with the FD for the presentation.

My QS should be here Wed/Thur time frame.

Me too. Slickness was probably the most important constituent when ultimately adjudicating and eliminating the vast array of QD choices available to us. Why? Perhaps my eyes just aren't good enough or I'm just skeptical, but I've never been able to discern much of a difference in the shine between two different QD's. Subsequently, my two favorite QD's are Z-6 and QS.. OGSO is a close third.

Although I've decided not to order any FD because of its reported lack of slickness, I must admit that all the other hype about its shine is having somewhat of a galvanizing effect on me.
