Just Ordered Quick Shine! - Will Compare to Meg's FD...

Just orderd my Quick Shine today. Can't wait to get it.

Slickness is what I'm really looking for and hear QS is like

tripping on a banana peel slick.

I also purchased Meg's Final Detail last week so I think I'll

have enough QD for a year or two. If ClearKote is the winner hands down I will probably use the FD for my clear coat wheels.

Has anyone compared QS and FD head to head?

thx

Just got my FD about an hour ago, was trying it out while the UPS guy looked on in awe.

I would say QS is a much better cleaner and leaves the surface slicker but with a lot less gloss.

Just my exp on a white bmw with klasse topped with LS/P21S ( Cant recall which I did last..........

keep in mind the FD cost me delivered about one third the price of QS, I think I found a new QD as slickness is not my goal. QS always surprised me for one great property, its fantastic on windows. I will still use it until gone just cant justify the cost and the 3-4 week wait each time I ordered.

Thanks for the tip on FD to all the guys who recomended it!

I have, FI streaks more for me but it does give good gloss. Niether cleans as well as QS. I got no streaks at all with the One application I did of FD

If I could get QS for the same price I would probably still buy both, dont mean to say FD is blowing away QS, its just hard to justify the extra cost for me. I say give FD a try, I want to give it a shot of freshly washed pain this weekend. I will post

I'm with Falcon on this. I find QS slicker, but Meg seems to have more gloss. However, QS seems to work better if your top coat is synthetic (Klasse, Blackfire, UPP,etc). If you top with carnauba, then FI or FD seems to look better. I like FI better the FD, but FD has a better spray bottle that allows you to control the mist better.

After all this, I ended up using a product called Speed Glaze which is a propritary private label sold my a local company here it Ft. Laud, which is the best product I have found to date.

BTW - Scottwax, you are always "da man" in my book. Anyone who can outdo a R/O with his right arm deserves respect.

:)

Update....

It rained ever so slightly last night, so I tried FD again, no doubt in my mind this is the detailer with the most Gloss I have evr tried. Its not the same as anything else I have tried. QS leaves the finish smooth and slick as hell, dry smooth. FD leaves the suface kind of sicky glossy but ( hard to descibe) its not actually sticky as my hand does slide, dont know if that will attract dust but it looks really really nice. Tried it on windows and nowhere near the streaks of FI but not as easy on windows as QS either

Definately worth a try. I used an on FI bottle for the sprayer. at 16 bucks a gallon a great deal

Hmm.. I've haven't used the Final Detail spray on any synthetic yet. Unless I count Poorboy's EX. And that did give a noticable look on my car....alot more gloss. I do know that I have compared Quickshine and FD and QS offers more smoothness to the surface and also streaks less. It takes me a little more effort to keep FD from slightly streaking. But for the results FD gives me I don't consider that a problem. QS does go on great on windows and wipes off as easily as glass cleaner.

Funny thing... a neighbor drove by 2 weeks ago asking me questions on the spray I was using so I gave him a small bottle of FD to try. Several days ago he sent his wife back asking for more and offered to pay almost what a gallon costs me to refill a larger bottle he'd bought.

So overall, I can't say that FD is the "best" QD out there because I haven't used everything out there. But considering the look it gives me, price and local availability, it's better than anything I've used yet.

Take care everyone.........V

What is "final detailer"? I thought meguiars made "quik detailer" (consumer product line) and "final inspection" (professional line). I have never heard of "final detailer". Where do you find this?

I can't even find a listing on Final Detailer here in CanuckLand and iff I could it would be $60/Gal.. anyone wanna sell me a 16 oz bottle full?

Scott - I found FD more glossy and a little more slick than FI.

Probably the silicones. Like FD more right now

After reading all your posts, there may be a usage for both QS and FD in my detailing regiments.

I'm not sure about you guys and girls but I usually do two drying passes when I complete a wash. One to get 90% of the water droplets off the car and then the second one to get the mistiness.

It may be a game plan to use the QS as a step one to get the paint nice and slick and get the windows real quick. [ every QD I ever used left a little film on windows after a wash so may QS will solve that problem ]

Then use FD for the second pass to get that high gloss. Maybe the QS will make the paintwork nice and slick so the FD buff in is a breeze.

I use a carnauba based system so this may work. Not sure for folks who use a polymer.

May also use the QS on clear coat wheels to cut down on brake dust adhesion.

See any flaws in my formula?

It's the third and quiet QD from Meg's.

Final Detail is the pro detailing line QD. Part # D-5101. $17-19. a Gal.

Only comes in 1-5-55 gal containers.

Hard to find or special order from auto paints stores, etc

I looked into this several months back and even called Meguiar's Canada about FD and some other Detailer line prodcuts. The answer is that these products are not available in Canada.

You'll have to order from the US if you want this stuff

I bet its cuz its not finanialy feasable to relabel to put FRENCH on it. What a pain in the ***. We loose again cuz of our stupid laws.

BTW thankies Nikon for the info .. saved me a lot of looking around.

I've never used QS, but thought I'd share some of my experience with Final Detail. I've used it over sealants and find the gloss it gives them is really incredible. I have used it over Blackfire for a long time, and I really like the slickness and the gloss it leaves. As you may have read, I tried it over the Z5 that's now on the car. It added substantial gloss to the look of the car, and coupled with the high-reflection of the Z it really looked amazing.

One thing I also noticed was the effect the FD had on the water-shedding of the car. With Zaino, water beaded up, but didn't roll off very well. After using Final Detail on the paint and glass, water was flying off of it. I have always used it on glass and never noticed any hazing from it. It seems it really helps to move water off the windshield. :)

OK guys, I just PM'd Jesstzn and I'm willing to send him some FD and if he want to try Clearkote QS once my gallon gets here, I'll send him some of that as wel.

I also have in gallons: DACP, SFP, APC+, EK and FI.

I'm always willing to help a fellow Autopian in obtaining product so they can test it B4 they shell out the cash.

This way if it works, then we have to find ways for others to get these products from website vendors willing to ship to other areas.

I'm liking the FD over Souveran paste. I also tried Mothers QD as it was in one of the clay kits and forgot to bring my FI (B4 I got FD) to the garage. That too is not bad for a QD.

Deanski

I have both TD & QS. QS is approx twice the price of FD in the UK. Both work extremely well but QS is easier to wipe off & you use half the amount to get the same efect (Is also less streaky). haven't noticed FD being glossier than QS, I'd rate them equal but I always reach for QS.

When Meguiar's first showed me this Final Detail product I was quite skeptical...to say the least...My favorite QD at the time was M-34-16 Final Inspection...buy when my director of training Mike Pennington gave me a sample of this product to try on my car I was blowen away..Final Detail is now my favorite and I purchase it in the 5 gallon container..FYI:..Meguiar's does sell the detailer line direct...to the consumer or end user..However, you must order at least a case of it...plus shipping...In my opinion Final Detail is a great product....Excellent Gloss...

Yep, I agree FD does impart a higher gloss that FI. I tried the following on a Zaino finish: Z6 (very glossy and CBT towels glide all over) FI (Good, but not as glossy, but still use it in a pinch) Then came FD( Much better gloss than FI, but still not as glossy/slippery as Z6)

Then, topped the car with two coats of Souiveran Paste. This ends the Z6 QD, so back to the FI/FD. FD still wins hands down.

I have a gallon of QS on it's way to test. They ship it short of the gallon and you just add water. Thay say tap water is ok, but I'm leaning to distilled water.
