Just a wash and wax?

I'm not a serious detailer nor do I wish to become one but I was wondering what a good combination of wash and wax would be best to give my car the wet deep look? I have a 2005 Charcoal Grey Accord and I see some swirl marks so I guess protecting my paint also comes in play. Which wax and wash combination is the best?

The wash is something that's a lot tougher to do properly than most people would think. Check out the e-book for how to use the "two bucket method". That's the simplest way to wash that'll give decent results. It's improper washing that causes most swirls/etc. (AKA "marring") and the process of washing properly is just too involved for me to explain here and now.

For wax, I'd get two products: something with some mild abrasives to take care of the swirls and then get something long lasting to put on so you don't have to do it again for a while. OTC products that come to mind are Meguiar's Scratch-X for the former and some wax by Collinite for the latter. Both are available at some autoparts stores, or at least they are in my town (check Autozone). If you're dead set on not doing that much work, a cleaner wax from Meguiar's or Mother's will also be commonly available and will work fairly well. But it won't last long and it won't do anything for the marring.

Plan on buying microfiber towels. Waffle-weave ones for drying and plush ones for buffing off things like wax.

If you want to go to online vendors, several places can get you anything that you may want. I have used towels from pakshak, autogeek, and excel detail and all were great. For product selection? I would personally go the "hide the defects" route. A polish/glaze type product such as clearkote's vanilla moose topped with a heavy carnauba such as collinite Insulator wax like accumulator said would hide a good deal of defects. Plus the glazing oils would add the wetness that your looking for.
