Jeff's Werkstatt How-To??

I started out the job spraying and wiping AJ with a MF towel till it basically disappeared, then flipped the towel and removed...similar to Scottwax's method. It looked decent right after application, but not as good as Scottwax describes or as good as it looks now. I did the rest of the car with traditional application, it all looked the same. As I said, temps were in the 30's. Whatever happened, it looks better now. Beading is really nice, though slickness is still lacking. The bottom line, if AJ's looks are lasting, I wouldn't let the lack of slickness keep me from using it.

I think that using the traditional method instead of the spray might help a little bit... I know once i get the V.2 AJ im just going to apply it like I always have...

I just added another coat of AJ. I started by washing with 4star wash, which did an excellent job. The finish did feel slick while washing and drying. The finish actually felt slicker to the touch after drying than it did after that first coat of AJ (maybe it was the 4star wash??). I then applied AJ using the spray and wipe method...it went on a little easier than the first coat did a few days ago, though certainly not QD easy. The finish has more initial slickness this time and the initial look is also better than the first coat's.

Note: Initially, I tried applying AJ the traditional way with a foam applicator. I worked it as well as I could but it was quickly drying on the surface. I removed it right after, but I was still getting some minor streaking. Again, maybe it's the cold (though it was in the 40's today). Maybe I should try a smaller area.

Without adding more product to the foam pad, after you have applied AJ to a section, work it in so it clears out, then wipe with a clean MF. No streaks, no smears and very little effort to wipe off. Took me a while to figure out how to best apply AJ but I think I have it down now. :)

That's the problem, it wouldn't clear out (BTW, I did not add more AJ). By the time I got back to one corner of the section I was working on, AJ was no longer wet enough to clear it out. I could've pressed down harder with the pad to reactivate what was on the panel, but why be that hard on the paint? It must be the temps. Like I said, if I work on a smaller section next time, I could probably clear it out without it drying so quickly. The spray and wipe method is fine, though. Yeah, it's a little hard to spread with the MF towel but not too bad. For some reason, AJ clears out better for me using this method. I'm going to keep experimenting, of course. That's half the fun, right! Thanks for all of the advice.

Instead of making a new thread I'm going to bring this one back.

I just got my car and with the amount of work that I put into getting it, I'm going to spend the money to make it look perfect. After reading the autopia guide and forums, it seems like most things are a matter of personal preference. So I'm not sure what combination of products to get. It looks like I can't go wrong with the JW system.

My car is the laser red mustang (pretty dark) and in very good condition ( 31,000 miles) so I think I'm going to get:

1) Prep clay

2) Prime

3) Carnauba Jet

4) Carnauba Glos

5) Quick Wash

Does this sound like a good way to start or should I go a different route? The car is rarely driven more than 20 miles a day so durability is not a big factor when it comes to the wax. Should I go for the AJ? Also I don't have a PC yet but maybe in the future for my mom's car which has severe swirl marks. I won't need one yet because my paint is in very good condition right? I do have some turtle wax buffer but it probably can't do a job nearly as good as a PC.

Thanks for the help.

I just got some Prime Acrylic and Acrylic Jett Trigger....I did the car with the Prime Acrylic and then topped it with the Acrylic Jett Trigger...My Black car looks amazing....

I have no problem applying AJ trigger . I spray on car rub in with one side of MF the buff with other side.

Red96GT-I would also add a 17 oz bottle of Optimum Car Wax to your shopping list and mix it in 50/50 with Carnauba Jett. CJ has a wonderful deep look but it is kind of trick to apply since carnauba in spray form tends to be a bit sticky. Mixing it 50/50 with OCW makes it much easier to use, has a very wet look and since OCW contains polymers too, it should be a bit more durable.

What am I doing wrong? I apply AJ Trigger with an MF towel and I'm getting streaks or uneven lines where some lines are darker than others. Am I spraying on too much? I first started spraying it on the car and after that didn't work, I started spraying it on the towel and spreading it from there. Then I wiped off with another MF. I was doing 2-3 squeezing onto the cloth and then spreading it on maybe half a panel before respraying.

Maybe try spraying it onto a foam pad and then apply to the paint. Do 2-3 panels then remove.

I am not sure what you are doing wrong. Is the car hot when you are appling the AJT?

When I use prime Acrylic then AJT ( with a MF I never get streaks and its always spreads easy) and it buffs out perfect every time.

JMO when I use Zaino its Z7, ZPC ,Z5pro thenZ8 , When I use JW its Bodywash, PrimeA then AJT, When I use Blackfire its BF wash, then gloss enhancing polish then BF WD.

What I am trying to say is I don't mix products. I am not saying you shouldn't do it , but I never do. I am anal like that I belive product lines are synergstic. Now everyone don't blast me on this , Its JMO.

Love this idea! Gonna have to give it a try. Thanks! I wonder if this would also work with Duragloss.

Thanks for the reply. The car was in the garage for most of the day when I started with the AJT. I live in S. Florida, so the garage was pretty hot, but I don't the car was too hot to apply the AJT.

FYI, I use Prime:Strong and AJT and AG. This time around I didn't put on the P:S since I had just used it at the beginning of July. During this time, I also used Megs NXT Speed Detailer as well as AG. Should I have used a Paint Cleaner before putting on the AJT?

Do you guys spray AJT on the car or on the pad to spread?

I spray AJT directly on the car......one spray is plenty for a door or quarter panel. Try using a lot less and see if that takes care of your streaks. Using AJT sparingly it is one of the easiest sealants I have ever used.

do you use the AG on top of the AJT? if so does it add much or do you just use the AG after each wash as a 'refresher' coat

thanks

I spray AJT directly on the paint and rub in with a MF and wipe off with other side.

I use AG as a quick detailer .
