James Bomd would approve! BMW Z3

Carbon Blue

New member
Ever since I saw the first Atlantic blue Z3 in the James Bond movie Ive always had a soft spot for these cars. The lines of the body seem very classic to me. This car was DEFINITELY a daily driver with some battle scars to prove it (worn out headrest, deadpedal, armrest etc.) The process took about 8 hours excluding the engine bay. The rims were HEAVILY caked in brake dust and it definitely took some elbow grease to remove it, although the brake dust did heavily etch, oxidize, and destroy some parts of the finish. Also I also got to try out my new toy that my sister gave me for christmas, some Craftsman worklights with a tripod! Im still trying to get a hang of taking pics of the swirl marks, but ill definitely get better, any tips?Anyway onto the pics!

Nice job!

One of my day job clients has a 007 edition one. I didn't have my camera that day or I would have taken photos.

Very nice. That was more of a restoration than a correction LOL. Looks like the plastic rear window did not age well either.

thanks for the compliments everyone, I asked the owner if he ever wore hats on a daily basis and declined to do so. Maybe he has a sharp head? Besides the fact here is a pic of the BROKEN (shoudnt have said worn in my first post) dead pedal. The drivers side floormat was horrendous.

Oh my, what a mess that car was. Bet the owner doesn't kept up with the maintence on it.

Great recovery on the finish and interior. Now it needs to be fix on some area's (headrest, dead pedal..etc.) Great job!

damn that's crazy.. i probably wouldnt have done a car like that lol.. great job! how long did it take you?

Wow, that is an amazing turnaround from where you started with that one. I honestly didn't realize those were chrome wheels until they were clean.

thanks again for the compliments. The 3M compound I used was a medium cut compound and I believe thats what it was called, it was not a "plastic polish". The whole process took about 7 to 8 hours excluding the engine bay. When the car showed up I didnt know it had chrome wheels either :) The owner was definitely amazed when he picked it up :)
