Investigate carseats to the max. One of the first things we did when my daughter was born was trade the two door car for a four door. Getting even a newborn repeatedly out of a two door was hard on my back...of course I was the one who actually had the baby, so that may have made a difference. Enjoy the birthing classes, they can be a real hoot. Support any decision your wife makes about pain management during labor....I have never in my life experienced so many different kinds of pain all at once......I was thinking I would rather not have an epidural, but once active labor started.....dear God in heaven! Some really terrific nurse anesthetist put that puppy in in about two minutes.....miraculous! I went from thinking I wouldn't be able to stand much more to totally comfortable and looking forward to finally seeing my daughter. In some ways, it is a shame that men can't share fully what it is like to be pregnant. I could always feel my daughter moving around and I talked to her all the time silently. If possible, have someone armed with the camera or video camera when you are handed your daughter for the very first time. It is called "en face", the first moment when a daddy holds his baby and daddy/baby bonding starts. Try not to miss capturing this moment....it is unique and very precious. I did alot of picture taking of the new daddy en face during my OB rotation...incredible! Best wishes and we expect pictures!NY detailer said:
