I hadn't used my Zaino in a few months. I was shocked:shocked to see this when I picked up the bottle.
On the back of the bottle is says, "Z-2 is a anti-static, non-greasy, non-oily and will get "wetter", "deeper and richer" with multiple coats."
It looks like a 1/4 inch of salad oil on top of the pink stuff. Is it mineral oil? Silicone oil, for ease of application?
What could it be? It has a very oily smell to it.
I couldn't smell the "bubble gum," with all this oil on top of it.
Any guess to what this might be?
OK, Let me bring this back on topic, since I posted it.
I asked a very simple question...
Any guess to what it might be?
The reason I asked this, was because the Z website says...
non-greasy,
non-oily
I was pretty sure... all the wax experts here would have an answer?
I thank Dternst for getting the Zaino offical statement.:xyxthumbs
Zaino's reply was, "Zaino utilizes a re-wetting agent which is an additive to aid in polish flow out and spreadibility."
The reason I will now find out if it is an oil...Is because of the contradictory claim of using Dawn to get rid of any oils as a prep.
This is cut and paste from the Z site.
"I would definitely recommend you remove the wax buildup on your paint. Just use Liquid Dawn (hand dishwashingliquid) as a car wash. It has a high alkaline content which cuts right thru carnauba wax, paraffin, silicone oils, etc. This will get your paint finish squeeky clean and wax free."
Why use Dawn as prep., if you "might"be adding more oils?
How will the layers bond, if there is an oil base/ residue between layers?
If there is a chemist in the house, please clarify!
I will be sending off the sample to an independent lab for analisys. There is no current time line. I will annouce here ( this thread) when testing is complete. Do not email or PM me as to the timeline. I will do it ASAP.
Email I received from the lab.
Here is what they said,
"We have seen this type of separation in different types of oil based lapping compounds. If you can get a sample of the oil, we would be glad to analyze it for you. Let me know if you have any more questions."
Sincerely,
Blackstone Labs
Now, if some one wants to save me the lab fee. Please tell me what the dark colored substance is?
Simple straight forward questions. How about some straight forward answers?
By the way, I LOVE:shocked Zaino leather treatment. I have used nothing else for years.
If someone wants to recommend something better, I am open minded enough to try it out.
