Is Zaino full of oils?

You mean sort of like this?

"Engineered to eliminate those fine scratches so you can have a flawless finish." (but yet it contains no cleaners? Oh wait, that's right....it does have cleaners after all)

My bottle of NXT says "Fills in fine scratches and unwanted swirls, creating a flawless and swirl free finish". Nowhere on the bottle is any cleaning ability mentioned.

I realize there are some light cleaners/abrasives to lightly clean the surface and improve adhesion but based on my own use, not enough to be considered a cleaner wax. True, when Lab Sample D was first mentioned by Mike, he said it was a last step non cleaning product. He was wrong and admitted it.

Uh...no. If anything, some of the mods here are more biased towards Zaino than other product lines.

The statement was made due to the fact that Meguiar's is a forum sponsor.

Some of you are missing the point of my original post.

Meguiars may be a forum sponser, but I have never seen a thread that is negative towards Meguiars disappear. I have seen negative Zaino threads disappear.

You mean about the re-wetting agent? I know I didn't miss that and I take your word for it.

What does any of this have to do with the topic at hand?

Hijack anyone?

Edit: Oh, I see you deleted your post. Nevermind, then.

Gee Brad, what did I say exactly? Do I agree that Moderators need to be unbiased? Yes, they should! Have I always been, probably not.

Yes, I did remove my post. Why? Because I just knew someone might try and put a spin on it! I guess I was right.

No, what you've seen were threads that discussed Zaino devolving into personal attacks which violated the forum rules and were removed. I'm sure the mod forum on OT is chock full of threads that started on a certain topic and became nasty requiring removal.

What's the smilie suppose to mean?

One of the things I liked about Autopia was that people had a general respect for eachother. Now I don't know. It's starting to dissolve. :nixweiss People are starting to get offensive. People don't care what they say. You can tell who tries to be kind and nice and who doesn't understand what "different strokes for different folks" means.

I owe a lot of my knowledge to this board, but I don't understand why we can't answer people's questions without being rude to eachother. Take it to PM if you must. :)

Newport seems to have a hidden agenda and seems to have a particular "affection" for Zaino since he has made this same post on numerous forums. I don't quite understand why, after all this time, Newport finally decided to pick up his bottle of Z2. NXT not working and decided to go back to a product with some durability? I don't know what his hang up is, I'm only speculating. I guess if you can't beat'em, flame'em.

My thoughts exactly. His intention of this thread is obvious; it's astonishingly similar to my "Does CMW contain vanilla fragrance?" post, except back then, people didn't seem to comprehend the problem of a wax that deforms plastic. Anyone else see Newport as biting his thumb at we Z users? Whether we want to learn a lesson from this I'm not so sure...

I thought this thread started out on an interesting note and I tried to keep my nose out of it to see where it led......well I come back 2 hours later to this?!?!?

First of all, lets stick to the original thread at hand. Stick to the facts, stick to what we know and don't know, (no guessing games here!), and respect others opinions. Everyone doesn't HAVE to agree.....that is what this forum thrives on...

More on oils......

We all know (generally) that polymer systems that contain oils are not durable. They just don't work with each other. Since zaino's durability speaks for itself one would think that it didnt contain any oils. Now maybe we have to go back to the definition of what an oil in the first place. What is an oil?

There are many different types of oils. I think the ones we are referring to in particular here are the ones that we see all the time in carnuba based products to obtain a high shine (silicone, mineral, etc).

Also, don't forget to think about the ingredients that consitute a polish system. Sometimes there are inert, non function ingredients added like fragrances and dyes. Any chemist will tell you that it's usually these additives that create the most problems because of non desirable interactions.

What causes the separation in the first place? Well the bottle acts like a decanter and in time you will see one or more liquid phases as settling time increases. It is due to a difference in specific gravity (density) of various ingredients (hydrocarbons, water, polymers, etc), and is the exact reason that oil and vinegar separate in your salad dressing container. Typically an emulsifier is used to aid in mixing. Morpholene is a popular one that comes to mind. Unfortunately, one can not change chemistry and the laws of mixing. Some ingredients are just not soluble in others for the long term. That's why you see SHAKE WELL on ingredients frequently. The difference is, in my opinion, that in a quality product, whatever is in there is there for a reason. In an average or poor product, whatever is in there could possibly be used for cost savings or ease of manufacturing, and most likely isn't a functional product of any use in the system.

Sal answered the question in my opinion to the maximum extent he could. After all, he doesnt want people copying his formula. You can't blame him for being terse, but perhaps in a one on one conversation one would learn more. The fact is that no one knows for sure. I myself bring any concerns with the zaino system right to sal, and bypass message boards where on a topic like this.....replys could tend to be non factual.

Hope this helps bring the topic back on track!

To be fair though, he is a moderator on a single product line site and you would expect him to be biased towards that product. Autopia is a general detailing site and the moderators should try to be as unbiased on the board as possible.

The last one I saw that was removed was not attacking Zaino but an overzealous user and it really was more poking fun than being mean. If it warped into personal attacks, then I would agree it should be removed.

Not really, OT is a true ADD forum. What does get locked or deleted are spam posts and threads that start off offensively. Racial stuff, along those lines.

I don't think I have locked any threads in Show and Shine but I have deleted a few posts that were personal attacks.

Corey that smilie (at least in the way I use it) is to convey 'the giggles' for lack of a better term.

Like "tehehehhehehthehthehteheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" :wavey ha. I have problems.

OT is more like "post something, get flamed, flame somebody else: repeat" I honestly don't know why that's addicting, but it is!

Exactly! Tee-hee!

It can be. The variety is addicting. I mean who could resist a thread titled "you are in a home depot and can chose only one item to fight a velociraptor"!

Back on topic-why doesn't someone ask Sal for his input? That should settle it once and for all!
