I hadn't used my Zaino in a few months. I was shocked:shocked to see this when I picked up the bottle.

On the back of the bottle is says, "Z-2 is a anti-static, non-greasy, non-oily and will get "wetter", "deeper and richer" with multiple coats."

It looks like a 1/4 inch of salad oil on top of the pink stuff. Is it mineral oil? Silicone oil, for ease of application?

What could it be? It has a very oily smell to it.

I couldn't smell the "bubble gum," with all this oil on top of it.

Any guess to what this might be?

Most of these products are going to contain some oils for spreadability. It is also how many of these products get the paint so slick after application, and after a wash it's noticably reduced.

What you're seeing is the less dense oils, and the denser protective sealant at the bottom. It's not like salad dressing, they didn't seperate because they are insoluable in eachother. :)

And the non-oily claim. I don't know. Non-oil and Non-oily can be two different things. I think, maybe, I'm not positive. Heh.

Just give it a good shake. :)

That's probably why it stops beading so well after the first wash, then after that it sheets rapidly.

Took a look at my Z1 after I saw your post ... :sosad

I left the bottle of Z1 in the storeroom for a couple of weeks.

Zaino utilizes a re-wetting agent which is an additive to aid in polish flow out and spreadibility. Most polish/wax technology incorporates a similar ingredient or additive.

This additive will separate slighty when stored over a period of time... Just shake well and it will immediately go back into suspension...

Whats the differences between the new and old Zaino's? I have the old version, but.......

One difference is that it's not as thick as the old Zaino. It makes cleaning the ZFX bottles a little easier and doesn't stick to the sides as much.

It is hard to tell in your photo. Is it the same oily substance floating like mine?

Yep, its a layer of oil floating at the top but the colour is not as dark as yours.

I think I will see if these guys will test it?(see link) If they will, we will have the break down on what is in Zaino.

From the Zaino website,

"Zaino Show Car Polish is a complex formula of polymers suspended in a water-based emulsion."

We shall see....

You should also send in your cars oil, for a very cool print out!

Why do you assume that just because it seperates it contains oils?

didn't you guys say something about how most waxes if not all contains some type of oil in order for it to spread and/or make the shine?

and i forgot where i saw this from, but it was something about how zaino collected the most dust. i think it was this mercedes SUV guy that did a test. i forgot where sorry, but isn't the general concensus that the more oil a product has, the more prone it is to collecting dust? i don't know... just speculating...
