Is Zaino AIO + Z5>>KAIO + Poorboys Ex??

My mainstays have been Klasse AIO and Poorboys Ex which I've been fairly happy with but the jugs are almost used up.

I'm thinking of switching to the Zaino twins (ZAIO + Z5). Would they deliver better results on dark vehicles? (black + stealth gray metallic)

Should I consider anything from Menzerna or anyone else instead. Or should I stick the my current products?

Here are my goals:

- No more then two products most of the time. (ie ease of use)

- Light swirl removal

- Some forgiveness to working in the sun

- No dusting, hazing or white marks if I accidently get the products on rubber or black plastic. (door handles, moldings, trim)

- Long lasting protection.

- I'm not looking for the absolute ultimate finish but I want to get most of the way there.

TIA

I think you will be more than satisfied with the ZAIO. You mentioned swirl removal for one of your criteria. ZAIO doesn't have much swirl removal capabilities but when used with a pc or rotary you can get some very light correction. You will be very happy with the looks, IMHO, and will be extremely pleased with the durability.

There's a lot of good solutions. As a black car owner myself, I'd recommend Vanilla Moose and Collinite 845iw. Zaino is a great pick, but I prefer the deep wet look of VM/845 to the extreme gloss of ZAIO/Z5Pro.

I'd probably go with ZAIO and EX w/carnauba. Z5 Pro looks pretty good for a sealant on black (reminds me very much of NXT) but of all the sealants I have used on black, EX w/carnauba is my favorite. Z5 would look really good on the grey though....

Scott, what are you seeing on durability for this combo? I never had much luck on past 3 months with the EX.

+1 on the CS

I haven't used it yet (still have z2 and z5), but it looks promising and seems very easy, quick, and long-lasting. Only problem is I don't think it has any filler for small scratches & swirls like z5 does.

Good luck with your decision. I have had great results with the Zaino line.

My wife's daily driver is a black Tahoe and I've been more than happy with Zaino.

It has significantly reduced the time that *I used to spend* on finish care.

Here's what I'd recommend if you're considering Zaino.

SWR (Optional): Z-AIO and LC Flat or CCS pads. If your finish is in pretty good condition, then a green German pad and white polishing pad will fit the bill for 99% of your needs.

For VERY light defect removal, cleaning, and prep duties, I'd go with ZAIO, which IMHO gives your paint a better look and additional durability vs. KAIO. If you keep your finish in good condition, and have a regimented wash process, ZAIO should fit the bill. It sounds like you have this part down if your current go to combo is KAIO and EX

For protection: I would pick Z5-Pro as my favorite in terms of ease of use, look, and durability.

If you like using carnauba vs. a sealer, then I'd swap Z5-Pro for Clear Seal, which works great over fully cured carnauba and will give you durable/good looking protection.

I guess that's a long winded way of saying I'd go with ZAIO and Z5 for a solid 2 step, or optionally ZAIO and CS if you plan to toss some carnauba into the mix.

Your other option....

If you're happy with what you've been using then re-order. If you take that path, I would highly recommend substituting KAIO with Prime Strong. They are similar products, but Prime Strong is improved over the current KAIO offering IMHO.

Good luck!

I generally get 4-5 months with EX w/carnauba. No acid rain or industrial fallout around here so most LSPs do reasonably well.

In the end though, I pretty much always go back to carnaubas on black paint. Yeah, sealants last longer but IMO, nothing beats a quality carnauba in looks on solid black paint. I've tried Werkstatt, Klasse twins, Zaino, NXT, Wolfgang, EX w/carnauba, UPP and, especially on my own car, I always go back to carnaubas. Currently using either Clearkote's Carnauba Moose, Pinnacle Souveran, Meguiars #16 and a 50/50 blend of Optimum Car Wax and Werkstatt's Carnauba Jett.

Except for solid (non metallic) dark colors, I agree 100%. On solid dark colors, ZAIO has a more carnauba appearance so I'd go with that or Werkstatt's Prime Carnauba instead...although I am guessing that Z5 would bond better to ZAIO than Prime Carnauba.

As not a huge fan of Zaino, I would recommend polycharged EX-P if you want durability but definitely think about that before changing. If its light colours then I would recommend Z-CS, looks good on darks too, if you are to head down the Zaino path...
