They might just want the fastest way to get rid of contaminants. Good point. Sometimes dealers also use too harsh chemicals and remove the clear coat on the vinyl dash. Usually a white chalky spot or area.
It means something? Or why would they not use it if it is the greatest thing in the world? Those manufacturers I mentioned don't seem to be present on the AI site at all. Your right, they don't say a whole lot in the section. Though, I know mine says and my younger sisters and folks cars(all different BTW) to not use acids in the owners manual. They state that pretty clear as a nono. I bet if you check in your owners manual you will find the same report. No acids. I got an idea. How about just for fun everyone checks their car owners manual in the car care section and see if it mentions not using acids on the vehicles paint? I am curious. Don't assume from my report, just check the manual. I don't doubt it works, I just doubt whether it is necessary or whether it can cause long term damage and is safe. No big deal.
Not flaming, I think that some autopians concerns are reasonable.

So in saying that are we to assume that you have read all owners manuals? Automoblie owners manuals don't say an awful lot in the area of taking care of your car. They pretty much just tell you what it does. It doesn't tell you how to do a lot of things that we do to our cars. The fact that all car manufacturers don't use ABC means nothing.
