Let's face it, we're not the only detailers/paint reconditioning specialists around our area. There's always someone else that does it as well, but from my point of view, I see these "competition" as a group of specialists or even a fraternity (Don't laugh!). For example, in my area, Houston - there's Jason (MobileJay) and also Josh Ottmann (JoshVette). They're awesome people, we keep in touch, we ask questions, we complement each other, we refer customers and there are times we actually work together. Not to mention we're quite literally about 40 to 50 miles away from each other, not far.



As soon as this guy started working on cars, multiple detailers from around the country contacted me to be careful of him. As soon as I exposed him at local forums, I got an unknown number from him threatening to kill me. A week later, he fakes to be an English lawyer and threatens to file a lawsuit against me.



Just yesterday, he contacted a good customer of mine and actually asked him to show-off his car at his car show and also offered to detail his car. Of course, my customer said the car was already detailed by me. Andy and my customer, had a 40 minute conversation on the phone and quite literally, Andy took every single chance he could to bash on me continued with all these smack talking. How I'm just a kid, I use cheap products, I don't use a paint thickness gauge, I don't know what I'm doing .. On and on and on. He just brags about how good he is, how one of his clients just dropped $8000 on a detail.

It is well documented who and what Andy is(In my humble opinion of course, as are all the following statements...) he is quite literally "Off center" and cannot be want he wants to be ie: Navy SEAL, me, someone who is sane and has integrity and truthfulness to them.



There are a few of you out there that fell for his stuff and finally figured it out and then distanced themselves from him before it got too hot(Like it did for Andy ) as he finally admitted he was paid to make problems for Dave Saunders(DSMS) Richie(BING) and myself as we exited the black hole of "Mingness" aka Rich from Gloss-it ..............funny about the timing of this(Come to your own conclusion on this point).



He has not learned his lesson.....still(Which was the title of the epic internet beatdown richie and I layed on him on Leftlanelife.com which is in the detailing section for those who want to see it), at some point it is going to end as Andy has tried "Softer targets" in his view other than myself as he knows when he gets close to me it will not be a nice outcome. Andy "Gird your loins as a man as judgement cometh soon".
 
Let's say this guy does actually steal one of your customers. He will hack up the car and your customer will in the end realize the difference between you and him. Not too shabby an outcome.



As far as the harassing phone calls. Thats nothing a quick meeting behind the local pub in the parking lot can't solve.



Luckily the only detailer in tampa who tried to bad mouth me at one time has ling since gone out if business. He contacted one of my customers after a local car show and told him about how many imperfections he saw in the car he could fix. My customer actually tried him out and called me after he received my postcard about it being time for a quick touch up. We scheduled a simple wash and wax and I saw the holograms all over the hood. I called him and politely asked him if he would like me to correct the problems someone else left behind. He then told me he did infact try out a new person and regretted it. We agreed to a quick one step and life is good again.



Just keep doing your thing brother. Sometimes customers stray, if your on this forum I doubt there are many in the area able to outdo you.
 
That thread on leftlanelife.com wasn't too easy to find, but damn it was worth it. I always knew there was bad blood between Bob and this kook, but I never knew it was that bad. He is wayyyyyy off the deep end.:crazy:
 
Is this not, in many ways, what the young man who wants to start a detail business with $150 will do to the detail business image.



What can he know, what can he offer and what services can he really perform for a $150 investment?



Do you think you should encourage people to enter our industry illegally with no equipment, knowledge, and overhead?

Just stop already. Andy Pancroft is obviously an unstable, possibly mentally ill, individual. This in no way, shape or form even comes close to relating to the $150 thread. Do you even know the story behind this or are you just trying to :deadhorse:?

Not trying to beat any dead horse, I know nothing about this Any Pancroft, but from what is posted his actions must have a negative effect on the detail industry in your area or wherever he has operated.



My point, even though some cannot seem to see it, is that anyone who gets into the detail business at less than a professional level is hurting all legitimate detail business operators, whether they are fulltime or part-time, mobile or fixed location.



You got to have people in the industry that see it as a business not a way to make a quick buck until something better comes along.



Sorry, anyone who enters the business with $150 investment is not what I would want operating in my area.



If you think that is beating a dead horse, so be it. We all have our opinions.
 
I know the feeling...



Some douche practically copied my whole website and I just happened to see it by some odd chance. I sent him an email advising he should make some attempt to change it or he would hear from a lawyer. He sent some nasty emails back and redirected any traffic from my web developer or myself to some gay porn site. Since then, he made some very minor adjustments and credited my site as the source of a lot of info.



These douche bags hurt the image that a lot of hard workers and business owners create. Even if it's 1 client lost or impacted in some way it's too much. I have a special form of something or another for these people.

Once again, this $150 has no bearing on the topic at hand, so why do you keep bringing it up? We're discussing a person who pretends to be other detailers, lies to clients, steals intellectual property and most likely has a very serious problem mentally. There is no certification or training class that will prevent an unbalanced person from doing what he's doing.

I may think ANDY is a douchenberg......................but I think I will deter my laserbeam focus from him to you BUD, at least get his name right. How is it that you never seem to answer any of my retorts aimed at you?? most think of you in the same light as a guy trying to sell his "System" to the less than informed FNG with the marketing know how taken from the school of "You too can negotiate anything" flyers I see on the back seat of airplanes when I fly(Funny I have flown first class a few times and did not see the flyers..............not the target market I suppose).

WOW, thats amazing stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Sadly though i don't think it beats nursing and nurses. Oh it comes real close,, reading some of these things gives me flashbacks of just how cruel, petty and evil are when they get a chance
 
I can't believe this lenghts this person has gone to F with people? I love how he claims to have been self-removed from Autopia. False. (Got Wax & Got More Wax) Pretty much most of the banned members were allowed to return a short while ago. I didn't see him as being a good fit for such effort. He's in the category of Holden in that respect.

Oh and as for the Bud issue.... David, why haven't you had a word with him? I think we've encountered a situation here that fits an old saying:



"If you look around and believe what you're seeing is that everyone else is the problem, then the real problem is you."



Since he only seems interested in listening to the moderators/administrators of the site, he needs one of you to point out to him that the way he deals with people is not winning him any favors. When someone becomes so motive-driven that they cease to pause and consider what is coming out of their mouths or its contextual relevance, they're bound to drag things down around them.



Just saying.



This Andy guy is something else; it's sad when someone has nothing better to do than sit around and try to screw with other people's livelihoods for no good reason.

I've had a few conversations with Bud actually. Like you (especially in your prior years), Bud is very strong willed and opinionated. I think that core value *can* be a good trait as long as your stay within the rules and are able to control yourself. I've not only witnessed some earlier posts from Bud crossing the line a bit, but I've also seen plenty of other people go above and beyond to take their pokes at him too. If I had to make an assessment, I'd say that Bud has toned it down lately, unlike when he 1st came out the gate a few months back. So, where do you draw the line? For me, it's difficult (and time consuming) to try to curb each raging bull just in an effort to keep the forum family friendly. I'm all for the exchange of staunch opinions, but they need to be kept as respectful as possible. This, I know, can be a little challenging for some. Especially people that don't believe in pulling punches. But at the end of the day, it's a detail forum for crying out loud. I personally respect Bud (as well as many others that post here) for what he's done (and attempted to do) for this industry. He's not only stuck his neck out on the line with his ideas, but has also been very dedicated to the sharing of useful information. I also believe he's an asset to the industry from not only a discusssion forum standpoint, but as a training one too. Are his ideas the most freshest and ground breaking...No. But he knows the rudimentary principals of the industry and that is why he is welcome on this forum. That goes for anyone as long as they stay within the rules. I say we take things at face value and keep an open mind if possible moving forward.

I resemble that description....lol, I agree Dave that I was heavy handed with Bud as he just does not seem to ever make the right statement at the right time(Maybe a great surgeon with terrible bedside manner) and after two, three twenty times saying a**inine stuff the point needs to be made "Silencio por favor".



Allowing the "Pancroft chronicles" to stay up has my gratitude, as he makes a career out of "A**hattery" and guys need to know as well to be informed of anyone who is a fraud(IMO of course) Dave you have the unlucky experience of dealing with him for a brief time but now he has targeted yet another person close to him(Wish I was in Houston about now...hehe) so Anson will have to deal with him now because you have to give to Andy he will just keep going and going, but of course I have lot's of stamina for the fight as well.



Hopefully Anson things will turn for the worse on Andy as he screws with folks and his luck runs out yet again in Houston, of course he mentions a second location in Houston besides the Katy location but it is probably B.S. as usual, so keep your head up and put out great work which is the benchmark always.
