I'm One Stepping my wife's RAV4 tomorrow, looking for some suggestions

Dude:

I couldn't believe there were over 7 posts on a damn spelling error... and then pointing out that the originator of the post edited his small spelling error. I deleted the idiodic posts and kept what was relevant to the topic.

Man, I thought chicks were overly sensitve but this crap is almost intolerable! Anyone has a beef with it they can deal with me... and that funny sensation they feel in their pants will be my FOOT!

And I mean that in the nicest way possible! ..."lights dim and we fade out to Mr. Roger's Neighborhood theme song..."

;)

I was going to post this but I am trying to be nice......... man what is up with thease people?

My wife has a blizzard white 2008 RAV4 that I've been caring for since new and it's in pretty good condition. It's hotter than hell here in SC and the less time I spend outside the better.

The paint doesn't show defects in normal viewing and I don't think much correction will be needed.

I've got M105, M205, Megs UC, M83, 85RD, and every LC pad under the sun. I'm thinking M205 on a tangerine pad followed by BFWD.

How does that sound? any other suggestions?

The 205 would be my choice since it is a white car. On a darker color I would go with the 85rd with perhaps a white pad. Menzerna Power Finish is my favorite for one step. It is very versatile when combined with different pads. But since you don't have any on hand, the 205 is a reasonable substitute.

I'm doing a one step on an Accord this weekend using a suggestion from PAC, Hydro Tech Crimson with PO85RD. Gave it a test run and it works well. Another good combo is the black pad with PO85RD as mentioned above.

i love power finish and a green pad for a one step but since you dont have, 205 and a white will do light correcting and finish down nicely...

To the OP, did you get to work on the wife's RAV4?

Yes I did. It was horribly hot and humid, but I worked through it. The car spent the first year of its life parked under trees and a real good cleansing of the paint was needed. I wasn't after much correction as the pearl picks up the light so well. The light swirls were extremely hard to see and impossible to photograph (I tried really hard). After some light reading I settled in on the M205 on a Lake Country Flat White. The combo worked like a charm. It did a great job of removing etching and other light defects.

This was my first time using Blackfire Wet Diamond and I am more than impressed. The product definitely lives up to the hype and I'm looking forward to witness the durability that I've read so much about.

Also, something I thought was a bit odd and if anyone has any input please let me know. I used two white pads for the entire vehicle and cleaned frequently because of what looked like dirt collecting on the pad. I clayed the vehicle with Meguiar's Professional Blue clay and I was still able to remove what looks like dirt:

It is possible that dirt had become embedded in the pores of the paint, especially if no protection remained to seal it out. That does look like a lot, though.:-? Was more coming from lower panels? Did you tape up the trim and seams? Pads can pick up dirt from those areas very easily.

Thanks for the feedback.

Actually, I noticed most of the 'dirt' accumulated after passes on the upward facing panel. That makes sense to me. The trim and seals were taped up.

BTW, I hit the pads with a 10:1 Megs APC, brushed with soft toothbrush and the pads look like new. I love that stuff.
