good info about the canopy. i am in the same position and the cheaper one looks like a better solution to start out with.

I'll look for a canopy at costco this weekend too though.

That said, it makes perfect sense. This is why the Menzerna bleeds out, and swirls/holograms have been reappearing on cars 2-3 months after they have been detailed.
That also makes sense why the Menzerna SRC polishes work well with a lot of heat, or why SIP works better if you work it in first before bringing the RPM up. Menzerna SRC's feature a ton of fillers, I (as well as very respected others) have seen this occur on more then several occasions.
I'm also curious as to where you information came from to rebute this? I have a couple people who have sworn up and down this is the case (apparently a lot of polishes use a parrfin wax so its not uncommon).

Oh please. Who are you shilling for? Menzerna pg,ip,fpii,sip106,85rd do not contain fillers. I have done many many cars in heat and in cold. Heat adversely effects sip and 106. I have don 100% alcohol soaks and did not have any noticeable sign of fillers. This is also true with many of us professionals here on the forums. So who are you shilling for? Proper auto? Justin?
SpoiledMan said:No. All the Menzerna products that I've used have wiped squeaky clean. If there are paraffin "fillers" then I can't imagine a surface that would squeak.

TH0001 said:Obviously I'm not shilling (as the person who posted this should be warned/banned) since I use Menzerna and love Menzerna polishes.
wannafbody said:I have some FP2 but find that it has a very narrow range. It is so mild as to have virtually no corrective ability. I usually reach for a stronger polish and then use an AIO in place of FP2. FP2 just seems to add an extra step.

Asking me who I am shilling for is pretty disrespectful. Even though I use Menzerna polishes, so I can I am shilling against myself? I can tell you the Zaino has bonding issues because of Menzerna. I have seen, as well as others on this forum (as well as the UK users who are switching away from Menzerna to the new 3M (perfect-it 3000 series) because of its mineral oil lubrication that wipes away perfectly clean).
Wiping with alcohol doesn't remove them completely, but if you wipe the area with body shop prep or prepsol, some swirls and scratches appear. If you deny this, then you have simply not done it, period. I will ask other forum members whom I have spoken with to weigh in on this.
If you believe a final polish can be spun at 2000 rpm, remove wool polishing holograms, with an orange pad on soft paint and finish perfectly, then I have a bridge to sell you in Jersey.
How does a product add "gloss" if it doesn't leave something behind on the surface to amplify that gloss. If the surface is polished and swirl free, it will reflect maximum light, obviously. So it doesn't matter the polish you use (if they are leaving nothing behind), as long as it finishes down swirl and marr free. However, 106ff or SIP, both add a gloss to the paint. Why is this?
Also, I have real word experience in polishing in direct sunlight in the Miami sun and found the Menzerna polishes to work better. But I guess since Menzerna USA says I am wrong, I am?
Menzerna is oil-silicone free, so what are they using for lubrication? Magic? Also, parrfin wax was issues with silicone bases. Intrestingly enough, Menzerna is very outspoken about the problems their polishes have when used over silicone based products.
I'm not saying that it features "fillers" like some other products, but it does leave something on some surfaces that fill in scratchs and holograms.
Menzerna is the best line I have used, period. But like everything, its not perfect, and the SRC polishes are finicky at best, and I believe that the wax lubricant used is a big part of it. The attacks where uncalled for, IMO.
I'm not going to mention names (you wouldn't know him anyways) but I have been talking with a gentleman who is developing new polishes.
mikebai1990 said:TH0001, I'm curious about your statement that products with lubricating oils have some fillers in them. But then since Optimum Polish lubricates so well, does that mean that it fills more than it corrects? I wouldn't necessary think so...
toml said:I was thinking of going the canopy route (as I have to do all my polishing outside), but someone posted that the smaller canopies are useless unless the sun is directly overhead. There just isn't enough shade generated by the canopy size to cover the majority of sun angles. That makes sense.
If you do get a canopy, you may need to go more than 10 x 10. And make sure that the legs can be held down on the ground.![]()
