If you are confused about the CG QD's...

I think I can help you out. The CG website gives too much information and is rather contradictory, but I have tried out all three now, so here are MY brief overviews and the situations in which each should be used:

SYNTHETIC DETAILER: This has some cleaning ability, but it is certainly no waterless wash. It is more of a gloss QD, like PB S&G, 4* Pro 4-90 Spray Wax, etc. It leaves a fair amount of slickness and gloss, but don't expect it to last long. It works well as a drying aid, and adds a little POP, but again it is just a quick QD not spray wax. Super easy to use, doesn't streak...but if you use it on a surface that is too dirty for it to clean, you will experience "dragging" of the MF towel. Like the other two CG QD's, it is anti-static. Smell is like Lemon Pledge. My least favorite of the three CG QD's, but then again that's not saying much

Use: when you already have a wax or sealant on the car, a relatively clean surface, and you want a quick boost to shine and slickness. It also works well while drying to lubricate and enhance shine. I like spray waxes (Mothers FX comes to mind) better for these uses, but at least this stuff has a little cleaning ability.

PRO DETAILER: My favorite QD ever. This stuff cleans even a little better (if that's possible :cooleek: ) than PB S&W and CG Speed Wipe. It also leaves a really slick and glossy surface (almost as good as Synthetic IMHO) thanks to the carnauba. Easy to use, excellent lubricity. Streaks at full strength, but dilute it 2:1 (QD:water) and it'll be as streak-free as the other two QD's. Even better, the dilution doesn't seem to have much effect on cleaning ability or gloss/slickness, which makes it super economical!!

Use: Whenever you need a QD for any purpose, this should be the one to reach for. The only exception is that polymer sealants will not bond over the carnauba content in the formula, so if you plan to put down layers of sealant after QD'ing then get SPEED WIPE.

SPEED WIPE: I recently bought a gallon, and I think this stuff is excellent. It cleans as well as PB S&W, a superb waterless wash. It also leaves a nice amount of slickness, like Adam's DS. Easy to use, doesn't streak, anti-static. Smell is like strong bubblegum or cotton candy, I can't tell. This is just a great workhorse QD for use anytime over anything.

Use: in between washes to clean off dust, dirt, and grime (to a certain extent of course). Works great over both sealant and 'nuba surfaces, but if you have nuba down or you're going to wax with 'nuba next, stick with PRO DETAILER...IMO that's a superior product as long as you don't try to put a polymer sealant over it. If you're only looking to get one product, though, stick with SPEED WIPE because it's so versatile.

EDIT--just FYI everyone, Pro Detailer has been reformulated. I haven't used the actual new product, but I tried a beta sample and it is like the current version except absolutely ZERO streaking.

Thanks for the write up. It's always good to hear from someone that has tried a product... or three! :D

I'm quickly becoming a big fan of the CG lineup.

No problem fellas!

Scott, full review on EVERYTHING?? That will take awhile...I'll do a few of 'em, but that's a LOT of reviews!

I figure your one of the foremost on CG stuff on here from our conversations and what I like...it's not it has to be this, etc. Concise and a real world user.

Thanks man. I think I will actually start working on some more reviews. Hopefully it can clear some of the craziness of their website up so more people will be up to trying some excellent products. Maybe Mr. Buddha who replied earlier can help me out...:D

Scott, BTW--when you get a chance to try out the Speed Wipe I sent you thoroughly, please add your thoughts to this thread... :getdown

I think I'm going to go with Speed Wipe as I use sealants frequently...I think I might break down and get both (Pro detailer). Actually, I think I'll go with Speed Wipe and Instawipe Spray Wax. Dan what are your thoughts (if you have any) of Instawipe?

tpdetail--to each his own. I know some people like it, but I really don't care for the Lemon Pledge scent.

Andrew, I find InstaWax difficult to use. It is like a thin liquid wax in consistency, like Poorboy's QD+...Pro Detailer is much much much thinner. When using wtih a sprayer, you spead it, let it haze, and remove it. Too time consuming for me. I have tried using it like a regular liquid wax, but it is hard to get a thin layer because it flashes too quickly.

I know Scooter is a big fan of QD+ and he probably likes InstaWax too, so some have mastered it. For me though, it's just too much of a hassle.

What you could do is buy from Danase.com...get a gallon of Speed Wipe, and a 16oz. of Pro Detailer. And use the forum discount. :2thumbs: That's what I did......

:chuckle: Who me? Naw, I know nada... ;) :D j/k Sherm!

I'll second Sherman's thoughts on the Insta wax, I found it to be like Meguiar's Xpress Liquid Wax, but via hand, I found it easier to apply/remove. I'm waiting for CG to come out with a Sealant Spray wax like a Z8 or an Aquawax.

Do cut the Speed Wipe or leave it at 100%? I am abotu to try it, as my S&W is running low. I love S&W and this is supposed to be the same, so I will love it to. I approach QD stuff like this: Rarely will I have a big bird bomb, if I do I use QD of course. I don't even try them as waterless washes or full car wipedown. I don't have show cars and drive daily drivers with high miles, lots of dings and retouched with $5 paint chip markers! If my car seems really dusty, I'll use a QD. I use S&W on my Harley most of all. You can detail it for hours, run it two miles and it is full of dust, just the nature of the nooks and crannies. I like it on chrome as well.

Let me get to my point...I don't use this or that (I have tons of QD, but fading most out) I stick with S&W/Speed Wipe type product because I feel it doesn't "add" anything if that makes sense? When I use a nuba or synthetic based QD I feel I am adding a wee layer of soemthing and I don't like that. Now I am getting ready to use WG full time on a van, when I do I will try their QD full time as well. But for the above, I think the mentioned product snags all the dust/light dirt with ease, leaves behind an unadulterated shine and finish, make sense?

As per Instawax and such...I love them! I use Instawax, QD+/QW+, and OCW. I usually use these after a quick wash. Meaning, when I rush through a wash and know I don't get the car 100& clean which usually means scrubbing the lowers free of bugs. I also used Crystal Mist recently for another reason and am going to try the above nuba based ones for it as well in testing...

I got this from KillrWheels @ AG and I simply added the water part, but he gets full credit ok....It is a revision on spit shining and it friggin' worked wonders, again not quoting anyone here.

When you get ready to layer your next coat of nuba....very lightly mist CM or you can use say QW+, OCW I imagine.

Then I srpayed the almost frozen spritz of water over that, lightly. Applied a layer of SOuveran (insert favorite nuba here) and work it in until all the wetness of the srptiz is gone.

Just before it is ready to remove, spritz with Crystal Mist again and remove.

Holy Moly, I was blown away, it made it jump! Not pop, but jump man!

Back to my useages, for the record I never liked CM until I just tried this last week, before that as using a quick layer or detail of nuba I loved OCW as it seemed to offer me more pop on NB compared to CM. I have yet to comapre side-by-side of the three.

Be cool.

I guess I'll wait on for that as well. Does Danase do a price match on CG's stuff?

scooter,

speed wipe has similar cleaning power to S&W, but it does leave a slicker surface. I know S&W leaves something behind, try it on a panel that has been treated with an IPA wipedown.

awah,

I'm not sure about danase doing price matches on CG stuff. I know of no other vendor (besides CG themselves) that sells their products.

Agreed 1000000000%. S&W definitely leaves something on the surface, and Speed Wipe leaves even more. I like that it adds something...it's not enough to mess with the look, but it keeps up the slickness and durability. Scott, leave the Speed Wipe at 100%. Cut your Pro Detailer w/nuba down to 67% so that it streaks less.

Cool info about the CM. I gotta try that. Just for kicks and comparison...maybe try the same thing, but instead of CM use Pro Detailer w/nuba?

I knwo it leaves something, but I menat it seems claner, if that makes any sense.

Yeah, I think any fien sprya nuba woudl work like that.

What exactly does S&W leave behind? From what I heard, since it cleans so well, the surface should be free of everytthing.
