I ruined my "wet look" by topping it

As the title says, I'm clicking but unfortunately not bragging as I ended up "worsening" my finish by topping it. It was so deep and wet looking with z2 pro alone, but i got stupid and decided to top with Paste Glaze. Mistake !! The Paste Glaze, brightened my finish, removed the slick soft feel, and absolutely destroyed my deep wet looking finish. Instead i get a semi "salad oil" look.. :-(

I prepped with Poorboys SSR1

then z2 Pro x 5

and topped with Pinnacle Paste Glaze x 2

I should have left the z2 Pro well enough alone as topping it with

Pinnacle's Paste Glaze ruined my finish imo. It removed the "soft" texture, and the deep wet look.

Conclusions:

I think the new z2 Pro is best without any topper..

Now i'm gonna dawn wash and hope it removes the Paste Glaze so i can add a few more layers of Z2 Pro.

Here's the disappointing proof..

Interesting. It does look sorta muted out. Dont get me wrong it doesnt look bad or anything but just kinda soft. I think on lighter colors like your car that strait up Z2 pro is all it needs. On darker color Z2 pro topped with S100 or Soveran really looks good.

Montoya,

It's tough to see in your pics, but I am not surprised at all because I've experienced similar results. I apologize in advance for this zealot-like rave I'm about to write, but the wetness and depth of shine that *I* get with Z-2 Pro has been unmatched. I particularly like it on colors like red and jet black where the potential for a "wet" shine is very high.

Others I'm sure will have differing results, but for me personally, Z-2 Pro has exceeded all my expectations and I too have noticed that topping it with a wax only reduced that deep wet sparkle I had initially.

The only thing I top Z-2 Pro with now is Z-8. With these two products, Sal has really outdone himself.

Ok, I'll repress my inner Zaino-Zealot urges now!

No problem Tony,

I completely understand your pain. ;)

will palmolive work like Dawn to remove the paste glaze ?

I am not certain but I think Palmolive has oils in it. Isn't this the product that in the 70's that claimed "to soften and heal hands while doing the dishes"(Marg in the beauty palor :nixweiss)

Don't ever beat yourself up for experimenting! That's what being an "Autopian" is all about. I feel your pain!! I know what it feels like to get all excited about an experiment only to be disappointed with the results. In the "topping Zaino" thread the other day, I mentioned that topping Zaino might mute the bling of the Z. Some people thought I was crazy for posting that. Having said that, I still have this urge to top Zaino with Souveran, for some strange reason. However.......All I have to do is look at my black truck with Z2 Pro topped with Z8 to bring me back to earth!!

Sorry for your pain but thanks for the post, people just don't realize how wet and deep Pro is all by it's lonesome. Zaino's mistake was not giving this product a new name, because it is nothing like the old Z2.

Just goes to show how amazing the Z2 Pro looks on it's own. Who ever thought that a fine carnauba like Paste Glaz would ruin the look of a synthetic? IMO, Z8 is the only product I'd top Zaino with.

Are those all after shots or is the first one a before shot? If all those are after shots, can you link the before shots?

Your car looks fine in the pics but I don't know what I am comparing it to.

I would "guess" Scott that Pic 1 and 2 = good...Pic 3 = BAd... BUt they look great to me:nixweiss

:nixweiss I have found that differences apparent to the naked eye aren't always picked up well by the camera.

I take him at his word though.

LOL !

:bounce

It seems the question now that Z8 is here is: Why grease down your car ? I feel like IMHO, my car cannot get any better without starting to have wierd special effects, like producing laser flashes in the sun or something.... I am more than satisfied with topping Z2Pro with "Grand Finale" better known as Z8. I wonder what I will do with all this other stuff???:nixweiss

While I was beta testing the Z8 I placed my Souveran, Meg#16 and #26 on a-bay rather than have it sit on the shelf collecting dust. These are excellent carnauba-based products that will fill someone's detailing preference for LSP appearance. :D
