I just ordered Vintage

Hmmmmm... I know you have nothing but good things to say about OCD Garage, Calgary, but...

It really seems odd that they didn't use an expedited shipping method for such a large purchase, as well as provide you with some way to track the purchase once it was shipped.

If it was me, I'd be pretty darn unhappy after spending such a large sum of money to get this kind of customer service. I mean seriously.... you spend almost two grand with them, and they don't send your stuff out the very next day using expedited shipping and no way of tracking? Most places I do business with provide that level of service for 20 buck purchases, let alone two grand.

I think you've been more than patient; it's time to call them up and insist on some customer service.

Calgary - Hope you get your Zymol soon. You know you're locked into a before, after pic set because of this post... :xyxthumbs

Anyways I have a few questions for those who have done their Zymol research/experimentation:

1) What other carnauba waxes are comparable to Zymol Vintage, in terms of longevity? Are we talking Pinnacle Souveran longevity or P21S?

2) How does it do with dust? Does it attract as other carnaubas tend to?

3) Is there a type of Zymol made for specific colors? (e.g. red)

4) Does Zymol make BMW-specific waxes? (have seen some other manufacturer-specific Zymol waxes, but not for BMW)

Thanks and don't mean to take this thread off-topic...

1. Better than Souveran, not quite as good as Collinite.

2. Unfortunately, there is no magic juju in Vintage that prevents it from collecting dust the way all carnauba based LSP's do. In fact, it seems that the higher the carnauba content, the more they collect dust. Cold water spit shining does seem to reduce the dust collection, and it also seems to get better with age; the older your Vintage accumulation, the less it seems to attract dust.

3. Yes. Check out Zymol's website.

4. None that I've seen.

I have thought about it. I have been very impressed with everything excpet the tracking number, so much so I have placed another order.

As for the time thing, thing are diffrent when shipping to canada. I know a perosn who ordered right from zymol a week before me and he is still waiting. Its canada customs.

I have waited as long as 5 weeks for somthing to get by. With the dollar as it is things are goingslow becasue of people ordering lots. Heck I have done it. I have three more packages comming other then vintage.

I have shipped things overnight from the sates.... still gets stuck in customs... its really not somthing you can understand without experiencing it... with the way the world is we have to make sure everything comming in is safe...

IIRC at one time they made something along those lines...my memory is sorta foggy on this but it might've been called Z3. I sincerely doubt that it'd really offer anything truly special in the Bimmer-specific sense though but hey, that's just my not-too-educated guess :nixweiss

I understand the customs thing, for sure, but....

I hate to be cynical, but are you *absolutely sure* that it *is* stuck in Customs? Without a tracking number to confirm the location of your packagae, it *could* still be in OCD's warehouse. I know I'm sounding like a cynic here, but there have been many people burned by OCD, and even if that wasn't the case, I'd be really on top of keeping track of a two grand purchase.

You *really* need to get that tracking number from them. Without it, you'll have no recourse if your Vintage never shows up at all. "We shipped it, guess it got lost in Customs. We can't take responsibility for items lost in Customs." *shiver*

yeah they did used to make z3 glaze or bmw's. But all of there waxes (excluding rouge and ebony which are designed for single staged paint) can be used on any paint regardless of what it is "made for". If you are looking at breaking into zymol i would recomend titanium, its a great start to the estate line

lbls1- Heh heh, glad to hear I'm keeping you on your toes and that you're enjoying our exchanges as much as I do :D And yeah, there are a *lot* of things I find very intriguing about the premium waxes. If I were in different situation might be using Vintage/etc. on a regular basis by now.

Thats reassuring and all.......but.....................one of these days buddy!

Glad you're getting a kick out of these posts as well. I will have to keep on my *toes* more often though!

1. I have found that Zymol's waxes have very good longevity under limited exposure conditions. Although the subject car is always garaged, my zymol applications have never waned in terms of finish quality. Supe has done a very good observ on Vintage, and I was quite amazed at its staying power!

2. I have had no problems with zymol producing excessive dust. Grant you, the subject car that I use zymol with is always covered, I have had, nonetheless, little problems with dust.

3. Zymol's HC line has several waxes specifically made for types of colors. In the EG line, Royale is formulated specially for the owner's car color.

4. To my knowledge, the only wax that Zymol markets toward bmw's is their Z3 wax. I am not 100% sure, however, so a visit to Zymol's website might be a good idea. Zymol may have the widest wax assortment in the industry (quite amazing to see!).

Mike, I'd stay in close contact with him. You can give him a little breathing space (bc you will need his cooperation), but definitely let him know that you're concerned. Its a difficult transaction with the shipping, so just keep up the faith.

Emphasize that you will need to have a tracking number just to keep an eye on the package's whereabouts.

But keep your cool and try not to get (too) upset or ansy. I've had orders that seemed to take forever in getting to me, but with a little follow through and patience, most of those situations worked out in the end.
