I just ordered Vintage

Some beautiful cars here. Harry you would definitely make my mouth water with vintage on that 6 series.

Mike that altima looks really good. Not that you didn't do a good job, but you and me both know that Vintaaaaghe has a lot of potential. I really want to see you exploit its range in some sun and shadow shots, and right after a fresh prep and lsp session and/or with a few coats collected over a couple of months. I have an idea of its prowess, but vintaaaaghe never fails to amaze me when I see it!

Nice review btw. It is an amazingly clear carnauba; that's one of the reasons why it has very stunning finishing abilities!

LOOKS AMAZING! its snowed already!?!?!?!?! wow... how did you wash the car in that cold?

thanks, and it has snowed a few times alreay this year. seams to melt then snow again We ar actully suposted to have snow a couple times this week :hairpull

I did not wash my car in the cold, a buddy of mines father owns a con wash so when it gets really cold, or i need a hand we go thre. Thats where we did this one

and its not cold. its only -1C. i have washed with onr in colder :chuckle:

thats like 30 degrees Farenheit? Yea ... its freezing where you are. I live for cold weather (snowboarding and for school to get out) but for detailing it SUX... and it would be good if we have an actual closed garage where we keep our daily drivers to keep them warm... but we dont!

this is not cold. we have actully had great weather this year.

for atleast a week we get -30C, -40 to -50C with the windchill. You would think the wourld would shut down but offices are stil open, school are stll in sesion. Life just goes on.

Canada is a great place, i could not imagine living anywhere else. :ca

but yeah -1 is not cold for this time of year

mell was not very strong, but as you waxed you got a slight whiff of it. It was very pleasant. It was almost like a sweet sugar cookie kind of smell. Perhaps someone will be able to tune in and help me out.

I can't place the smell either. Sort of sweet, but ever so slight. I don't think they add any smell at all; it doesn't really smell like anything.

The inside of your refrigerator is warmer than it is outside in Canada, I'm not going to say anything since where I live 59F early morning temp is a must wear socks cold!!

In the winter, when drinkig, we leave the beer outside to cool down, it cools faster then the freazer... not that we drink :o

59.. thats above 0... socks? Im so confused lol j.k

I have to much time on my hands. I looked at the pic ocd sent me. onthe front of the box is a number.... its in the 1000's.. the one i orderd from zymol is in the 2's... can anyone else find this number?

calgarydetail- Glad you like the Vintage, thanks for the review. I didn't expect to be impressed by the beading shots but *man*, that *is* impressive.

lbls1- Yeah, I've been quiet on this thread for a while, but well, I've pretty much run out of things to say! I may very well give Vintage a try on the XJS and/or RX-7, but the wax-em-up point is *so* far away that there's no point in my deciding anything now.

No BSing though, if one of you Vintage-applying-pros were local to me I'd have you do the S8 with it. I just can't take the time for it and that car won't need reLSPed for ages anyhow. Heh heh, for that matter, I'd have you Vintage the Denali XL, what a job that would be!

I *am* curious about what QD to use with Vintage when drying/after the wash.. I'd probably use my Griot's SpeedShine, but I wonder if that'd mute the Vintage  I *do* know that I'd wash it with Griot's Car Wash.

Looks pretty impressive! Like I said one day I will probably end up owning some. I'm glad to hear that it wasn't a waste of money for you though, cause of all the dissapointment with ocd you wouldnt want another upset.

I find that it has a faint smell of pine trees.

Glad to hear and see you finally got the wax!!

Now, instead of hand application, I use new foam or terry/foam applicators which are warmed in a toaster oven. Works like a charm!!:xyxthumbs

I seem to get better application this way than wasting it on my hands. I'm also finding dense foam also works well and prevents the oils going into the foam pores which it does on softer applicators. The terry ones work about same, but find pure 100% cotton terry works very well. That applicator I keep in a bag as long as it's clean to keep it saturated with the oils and wax.

The toaster oven is set to warm, not too hot or you'll end up with a mess that you'll have to work fast.

Zymol is located several towns away and I'm able to obtain whatever I need there.

You know, I've yet to try the Gaseur wax for Porsche.

They're all saying to use a "mild" qd. I've been searching and scouring these boards, but didn't find any list of mild qd's. I think lbls uses the sonus one. What else is mild, and/or doesn't leave anything behind?

I use Zymol's Field Glaze. It's pricey but does a good job. When I'm out of that and in between orders, I use ONR at clay lube strength - serves it's purpose until my next Zymol order arrives.
