How thin do you apply your wax?

Very thin... A slight haze should suffice... otherwise, it's a waste of product...
 
As thin as you can... you don't necessarily have to see the product and it'll still be on the surface. Sorry, no pictures right now
 
I think there is only so thin you can apply it. I just keep spreading it as far as it can go and then reapply wax to my applicator. I think it is going to be different depending on what kind of wax you are using. Some don't spread very well while others spread very well. I apply it till it makes cool patterns all over the panel and then I move on. You'll know if you applied 'too much' by how hard it is to buff off afterwards. Applying 'too much' is merely a waste of product and isn't going to hurt anything at all. It causes a little more work, but I'd almost rather use too much than not enough when it comes to applying a wax or sealant. The same amount of protection will be left whether you use just enough or a little too much. It is using 'not enough' that causes issues with shine and durability.
 
That corect give the pad a spray of QD or distiled water as far as how thin I am half blind and can't see really thin coats of wax so I tend to lay it on a little thick so to see the wax on the car I guess I waist alittle wax that way but I know I have good coverage that way it stinks getting old second thing to go is your eyes but I can't remember what the first thing is !!!
 
When working with liquid wax or sealant I use the PC to apply. It's not really super thin, but I think the amount I waste by doing it this way, is hardly worth crying about. With paste, I put them on pretty thin with a foam applicator. I will say that you can see it on the car (atleast dark cars). I've really enjoyed using natty's on my white car though. I usually just put it on in the sun, so you can see that it's got wax on it, and then once I have the car covered, pull it in the garage and let it haze. I really enjoy working with paste wax...it feels kinda old school to me. :D
 
The reason I ask is beacuse I'm having some problems taking the wax I'm using off, even in the shade. I assume it is the type of paste wax that I'm using. I plan on getting some Nattys soon though so I hope that helps. I am always afraid that I'm missing a spot if I go to thin, but I could probably do 2 really thin coats in the time it is taking me to do 1 thicker coat. Are you guys able to pretty much just wipe it right off? I find myself almost scrubing to get it off (once again it could be the wax I currently have).

A little off topic: How long does it take you guys to put on and take off 1 coat of wax on an average size sedan (Accord)?
 
I apply as thin as it will spread. A little dab of the pad and just keep on spreading until you can't see anymore product being applied. The QD on the pad is a nice tip too.

If you are having to scrub off the wax, I would guess that you are applying it too thick. Remember, only a small amount will stay on the vehicle, so it's in your best interest to only apply a small amount. Also, some waxes have different directions on how to be removed. Some are a wipe on, wipe off product and others require you to let it haze up before wiping off. Make sure you read the directions of the wax you are currently using.

2 thin coats. Definitely.
Or three.
Or four.
EX-P is for me the easiest sealant to mess up and put too much on.
Natty's is easy to work with.

Takes me, after washing & claying, 15-20 mins on; 20-25 to take off. That's not rushing, but not dawdling.
 
I always spritz a little SnG on applicator to help spread it thin.
It does come off pretty effortlessly.
If you a having a tough time removing the wax, you could spray some QD to help in the removal.

Well the foam aplicator I'm using is a little moist and the product goes on very easily, it's just taking it off I have problems. I tried the QD on the tough wax the other day and it helpped a little, but I pretty much had to soak down the area for it to work.

What brand of wax is wipe on, wipe off, without having to wait for it to haze?

The Pinnacle stuff is the absolute easiest to use IMO. Pinnacle Souveran is the absolute easiest paste wax I have ever used. DP Max Wax is right there as far as ease of use. Wipe on Wipe off and they both leave a nice finish.
 
Thinner the better. I can do an entire sedan with a half oz. of Z2Pro. (that's 16 applications per bottle)........
 
it is important to note that just becasue you add alot of wax in one apilcation does not make it ne better. How wax works is leaving a nice thin coat over the paint to protect it from the elements. If you add more when applying you are just wiopping it off and wasteing it. THe thinner and more even the better.
 
Well it's some Paste Carnauba Turtle Wax. My dad picked up like (3) 14oz containers of it because it was mis-marked at 99 cent when it was supposed to be the hard wax on sale. I tried it on his car and then tried it on a couple others to see if I could work it any better or to see if it was just his car and it isn't. I've never had anything personal aganist Turtle Wax until now. It's not even worth taking back.

Calgary, I have been trying to make is as thin as possible, I'm just worried I'm missing spots (especially on my tan car).
 
I have not had a wax come off hard.If your wax does not want to come off yes it may have been put on to thick or the paint surfface is not clean.Did you clay and polish the vehicle? And how did the polish come off? Was it squeeky clean when you MF'D it off?
