Just be glad it didn't have to go through CACH.

I used to work for UPS, and have seen packages quite literally just disappear there. Arrival scan at CACH, and never seen again.

Or, sometimes, the package would mysteriously re-enter the system a day or a week later, suddenly there's a departure scan, and off it goes to its destination. When you look at the tracking details, and see Hodgkins, IL, that's the Chicago Area Consolidated Hub... fear it.
Imagine this... a 2.1 million square foot facility, where the only humans that touch your package are the ones who unload it from the trailer it comes in on, and the ones who load it onto the trailer it leaves on. All sorting and movement of packages is completely automated, using high-speed multi-angle scanners and moving arms that push the package onto the proper belt toward the next sort. It's actually a pretty amazing place, I'm surprised it hasn't made Modern Marvels or something...

But if a package happens to drop off a belt somewhere, or get stuck along the way... it can be a crapshoot as to whether Mr. Maintenance Guy finds it in a timely manner. :image
