How does the Ultima lineup compare to ZAIO, ZCS and Z9?

I have the zaino lineup, should I try the Ultima. I am curious, but don't want to duplicate what I aready have. Durability and looks are my two concerns. I find ZCS to be very durable, at least based on beading.

Any Thoughts?

Thanks,

Steve

Multiple users here that have both ultima and zaino say that ultima looks nicer and beads like crazy (on the ultima board it has been described as water falling off the car).

Now as you know 90% of the look is going to be from prep, so the look may be slightly different but not huge. Personally I would rather support David B than Sal. I have emailed sal a few times and it seems to me he is only interested in you if you are submitting a testimonial or placing an order.

Also I don't like it when companies say that their products are the best period, which I have in an email from Sal, him saying that his products are the best out there period.

David B does not make this claim, thankfully.

I do not recall who exactly said they have used ZCS and UPGP and said they preferred the look and beading of UPGP but I am certain someone will chime in.

EDIT: A few members have pointed out that david has made this claim as well.

Try both and report your findings!

Actually David says that Zaino was the best and Ultima is better, isn't that the same as saying that Ultima is the best?

I now have the Ultima Paint Prep so I plan to test Ultima vs Optimum vs Zaino using each respective AIO product and wipe on, walk away sealants.

David B said zaino was the best? Thats odd I don't remember hearing that... Maybe in terms of durability, but looks are too subjective to say "best".

Anyway, I look forward to scottwax's test, and I certainly hope it's on black :)

Should Chevrolet come out with the C7 Corvette and claim it to be *second best* in it's class?

Well claiming to be the best with car care products IMO is impossible because looks are a matter of preference.

You can't say what is the best and what is not. There's always changes and what not. It's how you use it and how you like it personally. There are "BETTER" products out there compared to others, but not one single line will have the one up on the any other line.

To boil it down, why not try both. You can pick up some Zaino and give that a shot. If you don't like it I'm sure someone on this board will be glad to take it off your hand. Give Ultima a shot, they'll have a sample package out pretty soon, or possibly out already. If that doesn't work let it go as well. It's been about 7 years since I've used Zaino and didn't like it from back then, but there could have been tons of improvements since. I've picked up Ultima and I'm happy with it.

Steve,

I would purchase the sampler kit if I were you. I am.

You already have personal experience with the recent Zaino line-up. This will allow you to make a conclusion based on products used and manufactured this century. Everyone's view on a products performance and especially appearance is different based on many factors (i.e. prep ability, color, age, use (i.e daily driver/ garage queen) and quality of finish (i.e Lexus vs Mazda).

Even though you may end up having 2 WOWA sealants in your arsenal and both perform well in certain areas or all areas, the experimenting detailer can find a means to utilizes both products to maybe reach a "higher level" in both appearance and protection.

Depending on opinions of others and their "side-tracking" outlook on a product's source and not the product being discussed, will ultimately (sorry about the pun) lead to inaccurate evaluations.

any info on ultima beading/slickness?

pics??
I dont have pics but IME Zaino beads better and stays slicker longer. At least Z2 and Z5. I havent had ZCS long enough and there has been no rain to tell you about beading.

With the outrageous claims that David is making about the Ultima it left me with no choice but to order the products. While I don't agree with Davids marketing strategy, it worked, I bought the overly expensive products. I dont see why he charges so much, other than the fact that he can. Everyone said Zaino/Werkstatt was expensive, now Ultima set the bar higher.

Totally Off-topic, but some of the claims David has made are wildly fantastic, lets hope they live up to the Hype. People talk about the Zaino hype, take one look at that Ultima page about zaino, THAT is the definition of HYPE.

My rant is done, I can't wait for Ultima to get here, I may be replacing Zaino.

I *totally* agree!

Thank you, this is close to what I was asking. If there were any side by sides done. I have too much $$$ tied up in the zaino system to try another at this point.

I detail as more of a hobby and it has slowed down a lot since I got bought a house a got married. It will probably take me 10 years to finish my bottle of ZCS since I have put about 10 layers on my cars and there is not even a dent in the amount used.

I am always interested in new products and just seenig how they compare.

I dont have side by sides but I do have panel by panel. If you are happy with ZCS stick with it as $70 is not worth the price of admission IMO. If I had to rank the three products I would go ZCS, Ultima PGP, OS.
