How does everyone apply tire dressing?

I use the Zaino (forget the number) tire dressing and have applied it with a carwash sponge for quite some time, but I feel this wastes far too much product as the sponge obviously absorbs a lot of the product.

I have some of the EO tire swipe things, but the tires on my cars have far too little sidewall to use these things without getting the dressing all over my wheels. What do all of you use?

Cut the EO Tire Swipes in half for your low profile tires. They are, IMO, the best applicators available for tire dressings.

I use a plain yellow foam applicator pad. I apply the tire dressing on the applicator and a little goes a long way.

I just picked up some of the scrubbie backed foam sponges at the Dollar Store. I spray directly onto the sponge and wipe onto the tire.

They are like 10 for $1.00 and they work great. They keep the product off of your hands and are perfect for low profile tires. :up

Sometimes the pinnacle yellow foam applicators but friend of mine gave me a stack of red waffle pod foam pads that are used as as cushioning in De Puy boxes.

Work great for applying black diamond and I can wash over and over unlike the pinnacle's which go to pieces after a short time.

I use exactly the same thing as Pats300ZX, the bag of sponges from the Dollar Store. I've been using one since the beginning of last summer and use it every weekend. I've tried all the other things made specially for tire dressing and these scrubber backed sponges absolutely work the best for me and for $1.00, I have about 5 years worth!

Cut up jumbo sponges for gel type dressings...Or my home made hard backed tyre swipe. Small block of wood (handle) with sponge stuck to it, no dressing on my fingers!

Different width paint brushes depending on tyre profile for more watery dressings.

I got a small sponge with a plastic handle on it, I picked it up at pep boys. I spray the sponge with the dressing.

Yeah, that thing reall *does* work well, much better than I'd expected. Not for low profile tires, but for ones with more sidewall it's great. I *have* used it on low profile tires when they were off the vehicle, though. I like it a lot better than the Eagle One swipes, which are my second favorite method. But the EO swipes don't *really* seem to work all that much better than any other piece of foam (e.g., the dollar store stuff), and if you cut your own from sponges/etc. you can get just the size you need.

I have aggresive off road tires so I have to spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes, and smooth it out with a foam block. I then polish the rims.

99 Cents, actually. These are the cheap yellow foam types with green backs. Been using for months. They hold A LOT of product and they release product "out" easily....NEXT TO NO WASTE due to it's "cheap foam" structure. You can often do two or three tires from the initial spray-prep of the sponge. Super good with thin products like BnB. You can get three or four cars done before they get too dirty and/or start to fray a bit.

:xyxthumbs another foam user here. I use these foam disks that I found at a local detailer supply shop. I also pick up foam when ever I find it laying around, used a lot for packing find it around furniture stores etc.

I've tried the cheapy sponges and I feel they suck up too much product, not because they're cheap but because they're sponges.

On low profile tires: VRT via Adams Detail Sponge

On large SUV tires: I use Dupont Teflon Tire Shine, just spray and let dry. Re-apply as necessary.

I invested in a three gallon pressurized canister. This thing is great. You pour 1-2 gallons of dressing in the container, which is steel, and then you pressurize it with any kind of tire inflator. It can stand up to 80 PSI, after which it will release extra pressure as a precaution. It has a coiled hose with a large brush on the end. You wipe it on the tire, and quickly squeeze the trigger to wet the brush. It works really well, and does not waste dressing or make a mess. By the way, once it is fully pressurized, it can empty the entire tank without recharging.

brwill2005- that sounds like an ideal solution for a pro detailer (no waste, no clean up, etc)

Picked these up at the Dollar Store the other day. They work excellent and the hands stay clean. $1.00 each.:D
