How do you clean your windows?

I've tried hard lately to get my window cleaning down to an art and I just feel like sometimes it looks good and then sometimes I'm like that looks horrible. I've tried using different cleaners, towels and such and it never seems to come out right. I'm almost ready to ask our window cleaners here at the office I work at what they use because they make it look easy and I see no streaking. Anybody have some advice?
 
I use a good MF towel and make sure I always keep it folded to a dry side and I use stoners invisible glass.



I want to buy a steamer and use the window squegee attachment, that should make window cleaning really easy. I always make sure to keep the towel folded to a clean dry side, multiple towels per car.

You know I was thinking about using an IPA and never have, I will give it a shot. I thought about also using newspaper to dry the window to save on MF towels. I will try them both and see what I think.
 
I guess I go somewhat old school. I first use Stoner's Glass Cleaner with old newspaper to get the grime, film, etc off; then I finish up with distilled vinegar and old newspaper.
 
i bought the stoners glass "wand". comes with 3 different cloths. works well. I dont have to stretch, and can do the whole window from one seat. the triangle shape gets the corners nicely.
 
I want to learn this too. I just bought the Stoner Clean & Reach tool yesterday at AZ with the free Invisible Glass bottle... I'm pretty sure someone experienced this before. After I applied Optimum Opti-Seal in my cars paint I ended up still having a wet applicator pad so I applied it on my windows and side mirrors but it wasnt enough for my windshield. I drove the car yesterday and it seems like my windows and mirrors are way cleaner than my windshield.
 
Dirty dirty glass gets some soapy water sprayed liberally with a "body" MF towel, using a dry wash method. Spray with some H20 and a buff towel.



For clean glass, I come back with glass designated MF towels and glass concentrate (I only use distilled water for mixing). Rightlook makes good stuff, haven't tried many others yet, but I've heard from people who do vinyls that it lives up to the game. I wouldn't mind trying out other brands.



I do want to try some glass 'polish' soon.
 
Thanks for the help guys, I think I have some good ideas on what I can try and do. I really hate ditry windows, and can't stand looking at streaks either, and I know I need to get this task down.
 
I have always hated cleaning glass and mirrors....not the physical work, but the fact that I could rarely get them perfect. I never could determine whether it was the product, the type of towel, or my technique. I have used Stoners IG and Sprayway and others. I just picked up some Meg's #75 Marine/RV glass cleaner (21oz. can) at Big Lots for $2.00. Now I am cleaning the glass on our cars everyday! I went back to Big Lots the next day and bought three more cans. Best glass cleaner I have ever used, hands down. It's also tint safe.:woot2:
 
Sometimes I think I might be not using enough product and or not using enough clean rags which could be causing the smearing/streaks. This is why I think I might try using newspaper just to reduce my MF towels use. I will see how a IPA mixture works with non tinted glass. Amonia is really the chemical that hurts tinted glass but I wondered about what IPA would do.
 
Personally i agree with the towel being the most imporatant part. I just use a MF from Sams club (like 24 pack for $10) and as long as the TOWEL is clean, im usually good. That and of course you gotta make sure you're in the shade. And like everyone else said...just use a clean drying cloth to get all the grime etc off there first....then the clean glass MF to go over it again to remove streaks.



I too am curious bout this glass polish stuff...any good ones..whats the advantage of it?
 
I spray the glass, then use a terry cloth applicator to scrub the surface to loosen up the film, then wipe with a dry microfiber towel.



Microfiber towels do not have much bite so unless the glass cleaner can dissolve and lift the dirt and grime off the glass, then I think you are not really getting the cleaning the glass well. In some cases you are just spreading it around. Like cleaning wheels, there should be some mechanical agitation not possible with a microfiber towel.
 
Automotive glass cleaner and microfiber cloths. One cloth to spray product onto, another to dry. Keep a third one handy because you must use clean and dry microfiber to get good results.
 
I highly recommend the steamer but the squeege is useless. I just spray steam on the windows and wipe them with a green MF glass towel. Works fine.
