Hose nozzle

Yes, true. It appears to me the ones that look closest to the desired are the two on the right hand side :nixweiss

I got one of the flex-on nozzles from Griot's a while back. Since then I've seen it other places but I can't remember exactly where.

Having a rubber tip is absolutely a must. I don't care how careful you are, if you hold it very close it's going to touch someday.

Lately I find I don't use it much. At first it seems easy to use because you just flex it for water and let it go to stop, very fast and simple. After a while I found that flexing it required a fairly uncomfortable grip. Now I use a Bonaire nozzle from Home Depot with a shutoff valve.

PC.

I picked up the Wal-Mart fireman's nozzle for $6.29 & added an in-line on/off connector that works with 90* motion on the thumb controlled lever.

The nozzle works great from high pressure stream to flood & it's covered in rubber so accidents are almost impossible.

yeah, those cut off switches are rather handy. Pick up several though and replace them regularly. Accumulator warns they can launch themselves :scared: at the moment when you least expect it.

I've seen that happen with the plastic connectors 'cause the quality control on the thread pitch leaves much to be desired so I bought a brass connector .... no problems thus far.

At HD I paid $20. You can get cut offs ranging in price from $1 at Wal Mart to about $3 each at Sears. Since I change them so frequently, I have lots more of the $1 ones.

It's not just the thread pitch that's crappy on the cheap plastic fittings either. The shutoffs usually fail at the swivel point, literally breaking in half. That's when they launch the brass quick disconnect and anything else "downstream" into the car. Yeah, it *is* a very real and significant risk. I replace mine while they're still perfectly good. Better safe than sorry and as Bill D. pointed out, they're cheap.

For anything except the shutoffs and the "female quick disconnect as wheelwell nozzle", stick with brass.

Below is a pic of a cutoff valve that should last. Also from Griot's.

Steve530- Yep,tht one will last, but believe it or not, I actually prefer the cheap ones! I just find them more user-friendly. But note that it's probably just a matter of familiarity. Heh heh, imagine that, a product of overkill-quality from Griot's that I *don't* like

I just happen to like the plastic shutoffs better than any of the other styles. But if anybody *does* prefer any of the metal ones, they'd sure be a lot better in oh-so-many ways.
